RG3 Development Tracker 2015

I really can't believe this guy is still on the team. There are only a few possible outcomes.

Serious injury or mutiny in the locker room being the two most likely. Any WR with a bonus clause in his contract must be pissed.

Trade him now and get a 5th or 6th for him, or get ready for the train wreck.
 
Everyone's an expert in preseason.

We'll know soon enough if Robert has any chance of surviving long enough to learn to actually play the position. We'll know by week 2 or 3 at the latest---assuming he even gets TO the regular season.

If he can't, we'll get to see if Jay Gruden can make this team look like it belongs in the NFL until either Cousins shows he can grow into a legit starter, or McCoy comes in to hold the fort down until McCloughan finds the next QB next offseason.

Do you have any proof of these drastic outcomes? I seriously don't get where you get this from and am curious if you have any article, quote, or proof behind it.
 
Saturday night is going to be interesting.

Bob has a chance to steady himself, and at the very least get back to where we were a week ago, when his brief appearance against Cleveland seemed like it might indicate some progress.

Or, he could reaffirm what a lot of us think we saw against Detroit--a guy for whom whatever progress he'd seemed to make in camp and week one went out the window as he faced a real pass rush again.

He'll be tested early. Baltimore won't "gameplan" as such, but I guarantee you they'll be coming in waves at him. If Cavanaugh has him ready, we'll see him hopefully execute bubble screens, draws, quick slants, etc., right out of the gate to try to slow them down.

If we come out and see him take 5- and 7-step drops right away ... the fringe element sure that Gruden is purposefully trying to get Bob killed are going to have a field day.
 
I'm worried about Suggs going after his knees like he just did Bradford.
 
Oh, they'll game plan us alright. As we will them. Not regular season type game planning. But there will be some. At least for the starters.

People with predetermined opinions, will pretty much see what they choose to.

I, shall watch the game. ;)
 
Their gameplan for Bob will be the same one I'd use against him: Yo. Go get that guy.

As for what each of us will see ... hopefully, it won't be yet another lingering shot of Bob laid out on the carpet.
 
Oh you're right. The book on Robert is to go after him, hard. and hit him when you there. Late, if necessary.

up to coach to have plays, and players, ready for that. None of the them, the line, the QB, or the coaches, seemed ready early last week. The Turdbirds are a pissed off bunch crows. Getting "Osaka'd" by Chirp Jelly last week.

Get your non hydrogenated popcorn ready.

Gotta' admit... thought crossed my mind when I read yesterday that Robert was likely starting Saturday.

And Gruden is snarky enough a prick to leave him out there with no protection.

The league decided it didn't want the read option to take over, that's why they designated the QB as a runner, once he doesn't complete the handoff.

They called the Suggs hit legal. Only the Brady's, Manning's, etc... will get protection from the league.

I'm hoping the coaches are calling draws, quick hitches, slants, and outs early on.

I don't think it's possible to get 5 olinemen ,your backs and te's to get in on a conspiracy to take Bob out.
 
Saturday night is gonna be very ugly if we start the same group on the line. Second and third string guys, one vet, a rookie, and another guy that might as well be a rookie in Moses against the ravens starters is playing against a stacked deck as a QB. Maybe some young QB's can develop under those circumstances, but sure as hell know that Robert wont.

Hope I'm wrong.....

Who said it was all on him? He's just one piece to the puzzle.

But to sit there and suggest that last week was some elaborate plan by Jay Gruden to intentionally hurt Bob? Those that suggest that are on planet Delusional.

I'll be OK when Cousins gets in during the regular season. It's going to happen, you all know it. I've been saying all along, Kirk will be the most "prepared" QB when the season starts. That's because of his preseason reps. So I think he'll be ready once the games begin. And McCoy is more than an adequate backup for a veteran. We can win with these guys.

Also for the record I think Kirk will still be on the team in 2017.

I agree, it got ugly quick, but I do think Gruden made a point for Griffin to stay in the pocket and work on that aspect of the game. I made an analogy earlier about a pitcher focusing on throwing certain pitches during the preseason to get more and more reps at that particular aspect. I think Gruden called plays in order to get Griffin as many pocket reps as he could and it all blew up in his face, due to multiple factors.
 
I generally find Rick Snider a bit pompous and prone to swinging hard at low-hanging fruit, but ... with the exception of allowing for the possibility that Robert was partly responsible for his own beating Thursday night ... this seems timely.

This is not Mike Shanahan 2.0. Gruden didn’t set up Griffin to get injured Thursday night against the Lions, and he didn’t play him one too many series.

Griffin’s injury was part of football’s risks. The Redskins have already lost three players to season-ending injuries. Gruden could no more safeguard those fallen players than save Griffin. It’s a brutal sport in which bad things happen indiscriminately.

After three poor series with only one first down, Gruden was giving Griffin another chance to show something, anything.
“We weren’t doing that well on offense,” Gruden said after the game. “I wanted to get something going on offense. A lot of quarterbacks play into the second quarter in a preseason game. Football is a tough sport. We wanted to get something going offensively. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.”

Sitting in the best pocket he had all evening, Griffin fumbled and then was injured after unsuccessfully trying to recover the ball...

Everyone always likes to blame one person. Sometime, I'm sure you can. But usually it's an all around failure involving the Redskins. It's poor coaching, poor line play, and poor QB play. The receivers and backs get their hands in the mess too. People just like to see what they want to see then blame accordingly.
 
Kel, I think by and large the folks here understand that there's no one person or event at fault for how bad we've been. We've been deficient in the front office, coaching and on-field talent for a very long time. I think if we were all sitting around at a bar drinking beers together, though, we'd all mostly agree that what happened specifically in the first four offensive series Thursday night was partly on the OL, partly on the QB, partly on the coaching staff, and maybe even partly because in preseason sometimes teams come in operating on totally different speeds.

Or, it could all be Brunnell's fault.
