I hope Charles is that breakthrough player.
Despite the picks on the DL including Ioannidis in Round 5 and Settle as well, Washington has been unable to find quality performers in the middle rounds of the draft on the OL.
Christian was a #3 pick but has performed at a replacement level at LT.
Martin and Pierschbacher have been disappointments as #4 and #5 picks.
Rouillier has been functional at center as a former #6 pick but gets overpowered quickly in pass pro.
The ONE player the team has acquired that DID in fact exceed expectations, Ereck Flowers, was able to leave DC after one year because Washington failed to negotiate a team option for a second season into the deal.
Recall that Flowers had been cut by the Giants and failed at both tackle spots in the NFL. He was not at that time a player with a lot of leverage and Washington should have been able to better benefit from the contract they gave him to experiment at another position on the OL if successful.
