Ok, the function of an anchor is a chunk of metal/rock/wood what have you that is used to keep you stationary. No mentality to it, it's consistent and its heavy. It holds it's location which then holds an object (ie. boat, vehicle, etc) in a stationary position. That would mean the anchor has to be the most consistent piece. I will agree that our defense was anchored by fletcher for a long time, but it had nothing to do with his cerebral position. An anchor on a boat doesn't think, it just does... it's the least technological part of the boat. JJ Watt is the anchor of the d-line in Houston but I don't think he controls any coverage calls. Sean Taylor was the anchor of our defense and he was 25 yards off the line of scrimmage.
