Redskins Insider: Quick Hits: Alfred Morris cements role as starting RB

Don't get hung up on the word 'cements.' That's the reporter's word not the coach's. I just read it as he earned the right to start the next game, nothing more.

Directly from Shanahan's mouth:

Mike Shanahan said:
I’d say we go with anybody. I say that because I don’t want the opposition to know, but Alfred right now is our starting running back. I thought he did a very good job. He had two or three runs in there that a lot of people can’t make. We’re going to substitute him when he gets tired. Or like you mentioned, maybe he’s not playing well, maybe he doesn’t have a hot hand, but right now, what I’ve seen in preseason and what I’ve seen through the first game, he will be our starting running back. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot of belief in [Roy] Helu [Jr.] or [Evan] Royster.

He'll start and play whomever he thinks has the hot hand or will do the best. Nobody is locked in.

Let's see,

Tough down hill runner
Takes multiple hits to take him to the ground
Turns loss/no gain into positive yardage
Scored 2 touchdowns (who gives a flying **** how long the runs were)
0 fumbles
All in his 1st game, after being a long shot to even make an NFL roster

What a bum. He's stealing carries from Banks.

Cut his ass.
