Redskins FA Signings Thread

I don't have stats to support this.....but I do seem to remember hearing that Banks - even with all our complaints - led the league in returns. And yeah, I think he had a few called back on penalties.

For all our gripes, this guys is still a threat to break one at any time. If he can get in shape and stay focused, why cut him? Yet, anyway.....

Interesting, maybe we could afford to use Moss as a full-time return specialist now that we're much deeper at receiver ?

Definitely a possibility, but likely only on punts, and maybe too fragile to use him often.

Don't hold me to it, but I believe Morgan was used as a return man at some point...maybe in college. I think I saw it somewhere when I started trying to find out about him.

That would be good news.

Unless someone has a replacement in mind, I believe Banks has to be the favorite right now. I'd love to see him challenged. Maybe We can give Morgan a look. And Niles Paul is an absolute burner, but whether he can field punts and kickoffs might be a different story.

with the rules changes the value of a kick returner that doesn't contribute elsewhere on the club has been diminished.

Banks at 5'7 and 155 is a one trick pony and he seemed to lose control over that one trick last year at various points.

At his size durability is already an issue with games missed and what looks like a chronic knee problem at age 24-25.

I don't see him making the 2012 Redskins.

With Griffin, Garcon, Morgan, and the expected return of Davis I think the Redskins have upgraded their playmaking ability enough that Banks becomes a luxury item.

Coaches set the parameters of when to bring it out - I'm not sure that equals what always happens Lanky. Besides - it's never that simply, I think those decisions also rely on instinct and what coverage you find yourself in as you collect the ball. Whether or not something is there, you have a lane, or you're about to get walloped also come into play. I don't know the stats, but my sense was Banks brought it out more often than he should have, and rarely had an impact return.

Banks ranked 20th in the league in average KO return yardage.

No to Dock - great guy, poor fit in ZBS.

Aaron Ross is at Redskins Park at this time.

He's been around the NFL for awhile.

He's kind of expensive as a depth player at $2.5M for 2012, especially considering he is coming back from TWO ACL reconstructions!

I can't believe there were that many teams after him at this early stage of free agency.

Adam. My man.

Oh btw....too many stripes. ;)

Going back, I am glad the team resigned Carriker. He along with Fletcher were really the only unrestricted FAs that the team needed to bring back.

Most of the others were and are expendable.
