Random Thoughts

We had a major tech issue and had to install a backup. Any posts from Thursday until today were lost.

That actually worked out perfectly, because it easily took care of a few of my posts predicting that Jarrett Studham would shock the world and become the next Nick Foles

77 here in Miami, 730 Sunday night 😀

Ashburn Dave - nice butt

A lady friend just called and asked if I could plow her out……… 🤔 It may be an emergency so I should probably help her with that.

Or not!

We got nothing here in Tennessee.

Well Nashville is another matter.
Well, we have sunshine, but it's only 25 degrees and windy. Lost power for a couple hours overnight.

Remember that time when I told everyone to put a tarp on the deck and if you have one for your car? It has since been deleted. That way after the storm you can just pull the tarp off. Well Jim Cantore gave me this suggestion and he can kiss my ass.

What he neglected to tell us is the tarp will freeze and stick to the deck, the weight from this amount of snow was way too much to turn the tarp over after it had been freed. I spent an hour shoveling snow off the tarp, which defeats the purpose of the tarp, before I could pull it off the deck.

I've done similar to the tarp thing but used tree branches instead on a pickup truck. You put the largest branch on the bottom and then pull that one first when unloading. Everything in that pile slides off the truck so easy.

It sucks that the snow didn't cooperate for you.

My snow blower broke down yesterday halfway through the job. Now I gotta finish it with shovel. F ing snow.

I have a lot of shoveling still to do, I had to stop as it's dangerous for me.

This is a weird snow. Other than Snowmagedden I've been able to simply drive my truck over the snow to pack it down, then we just drive out. But with this snow the truck had trouble moving, even on the flat part. At the end of the drive it goes down a hill and I didn't want to get stuck. So I started shoveling, this is heavy snow. I'll finish up tomorrow, I have to get out eventually as the birds are attacking the last of the bird seed.

I gotta take breaks after a bit. I can't muscle it like I used to.

Maybe I'll do the truck thing tomorrow and flatten it.

I wound up having to use a double headed axe to break up the ice so I could shovel. I couldn't do it in one shot either.

I have a propane torch I use to burn weeds, I'm probably going to break it out at some point. I did so much prep but forgot to get salt until it was too late. I found a bag from last year, it was hard as a brick but I got it done with a claw hammer. As I moved the generator I found another was holding down the tarp. Hammer time!

I can't believe it, for the first time in 23 years I put out a notice for someone to plow our driveway. Other than snowmaggedden I was always able to simply drive over the snow to pack it down with my 4x4 pickup, then it melts and I salt the end so we don't slide into the road. But this one is not going to melt and more snow is coming.

I've tried torches before and they just aren't big enough to do the job. The other problem with a torch is they will char the area if you get too close.

The sun will be out again today so hopefully we'll see some melting.

My biggest problem is at the driveway apron. The plow truck always blocks us in and now that block is frozen solid.

I called my dog in and she ran across snow without breaking the surface. That's not good news for us shovelers.

Snow took my weight without giving a millimeter this morning. I got most of it done yesterday, but still have one patch left to go plus the impossible looking barricade the plows left in front of my driveway. Might need a mortar for that.
