Interesting article. For those who think Kliff is better than McDaniel.. it's just interesting to read about how he tailors things so specifically to individual strengths.

I am not saying individual strengths don't factor at all into what Kliff does - certainly they do - but there is an overall scheme which doesn't change enough based on personnel. When this happens - you are not as resistant to injury as you could be. Injury is a fact of life in the NFL.

This pattern kind of fits with his career and how it's gone. I wonder how many of those bad AZ years he may have Larry F injured or at less than 100% (were those Larry F years?).

Interesting article. For those who think Kliff is better than McDaniel.. it's just interesting to read about how he tailors things so specifically to individual strengths.

I am not saying individual strengths don't factor at all into what Kliff does - certainly they do - but there is an overall scheme which doesn't change enough based on personnel. When this happens - you are not as resistant to injury as you could be. Injury is a fact of life in the NFL.

This pattern kind of fits with his career and how it's gone. I wonder how many of those bad AZ years he may have Larry F injured or at less than 100% (were those Larry F years?).

With a backup QB and a bunch of JAG receivers/TEs/backs most of the season and the inability to take advantage of the benefits of complementary football due to a terrible defense, Kliff has run a middle of the pack offense in terms of DVOA. If we had someone like Scott Turner calling the offensive plays, this team probably has the #1 overall pick.

It's completely fair to criticize Kliff for the Minnesota game. The team was ill prepared after the first 15 plays and the offense did not catch on that Greenard had our snap cadence down pat and was able to create pressure at will. What he did show was more under center (so he adjusted) and he has now truly implemented a fullback into his core formations.

Overall, though, I'm still happy to have him and I hope he is around next year.

For me, I say no. I think he can do better, possibly much better; I don't think he leaned into where we had fewer injuries for most of the year as effectively as he could have (OL, RB, TE). I don't think he is the worst OC or anything like that. I also don't know that he is developing JD very well, which is probably the most alarming issue with him staying - more than almost anything else.

Well, whether he tailors things to individual players or not, the playcalling against PIT does remind me of our season's playcalling.

The other team can control the clock (poor D), and the O just gives the ball right back with 3 and outs, limited running has analysts saying, "why are they not running the ball? It's only the 3rd quarter."

Very reminiscent in a bad way.

Look at our 3 backs. One guy was on our practice squad last year, the other guy is a 10 year vet who was a bottom roster guy when he made teams and the other guy is a rookie 7th round pick.

Idk how often you’ve watched the Dolphins in recent years but Tua is sincerely one of the worst QB’s in the league, it’s a tough situation with the contract he’s on. Makes their team extremely hard to watch and basically nothing works unless the run D they’re facing is soft as hell

Yes he has played a horrible game overall here too. McDaniel's work is cut out for him on a game to game basis I am sure, but watching this game it looked like they went run-pass-pass with some kind of predictable plays/formations at a really bad time. At that point PIT drove for 4-straight TDs and MIA had 2 straight 3 and outs to fuel that.

A very familiar failing of complementary football.

Apparently in the postgame (I had turned it off but just heard from friend), Joe Barry was congratulating Rodgers - I didn't realize it but I guess Barry is the LB coach for the Dolphins.

So I guess Barry has bounced around all of Gruden's assistant coaches now, after being on that staff with Gruden and them. He was with McVay, LaFleur, and now McDaniel I believe. Congratulations, McDaniel?

This year would have been a good year to be “good” - seems like a wide open field. A lot of the supposedly really good teams (like denver and new england) have issues.

Bad year to be in the doldrums.

Compare to last year when Eagles were in peak form. Maybe they get back to that and walk into another SB. I certainly hope not. I think at this point no fanbase deserves it less and that is saying something.

After last nights game

The Eagles game yesterday was one of the worst officiating displays I have ever seen. They missed an obvious hold in the endzone that should've resulted in a TD against us. They called a phantom hold against us that gave Philly a TD, they missed obvious holding calls over and over, meanwhile making phantom hold calls against us. Even though it was meaningless at that point in the game, negating a successful onsides kick because an official is too slow getting in position is outrageous. I have never seen a more biased display of officiating in my life. Ridiculous.

The officiating was horrendous, Boone . Just unacceptably bad. And it wasn't bad as in mistakes/errors, it was bad in terms of being selective and preferential when making calls. The Eagles line was holding aaaaallllll game. I think they were called only once (maybe twice). The holding call on Coleman was bullshit, the Eagles player simply fell. That cost us a 1st down, IIRC. The Eagles secondary is good, but Dejean and those guys are also allowed to do what they want back there. I laughed at the illegal contact call on us. Just watching the tape, they were grabbing, tugging, redirecting our guys post-5 yards all game. Wrolstad is generally okay, but there are guys on his crew I could do without.

The holding call on Coleman was indeed bs. The offsides on the fg by Tyler Owens that resulted in a 1st down was bs. The PI in the endzone on Noah I. was bs.
