Did Dan Quinn have his two crutch phrases last year?

He uses "In that space" or something with "space" A LOT.

He also uses "to go" an enormous amount.

I don't remember him having those crutch phrases last year, at least not to the extent that I notice them this year.

The longest crutch phrase I've ever heard was Ron's: "The most important thing more so than anything else." My God. He wore that one out. Most people have a crutch work, or a crutch phrase. "Like" and "you know" are two of the most common. "The most important thing more so than anything else" is a mouth full for a crutch phrase. I think his overall presser duration would have been 3 hours less over the course of the season if he didn't use that phrase in just about every answer.

Well it's definitely a start. I feel like they really needed to hear DQ get mad. He always comes across friendly and calm, he needed to stir the team

Yeah, apparently all three lost it at different times. A young team needs that because it's easy for them to fall into bad habits or think they make it.

Now, we aren't a young team in traditional terms because we have so many gray haired vets, but they're very young in terms of their time playing together as a team.

Yup, and everyone needs a slap in the face to wake the eff up every once in a while. The way the team was looking, they were in dire need of getting injured players back and a good slap due to how uninspiring they were performing.

I didn't see JD5 get mad. I find that hard to imagine, actually. If my guy was more laid back, he'd be dead. He's always smiling, laughing, supporting his teammates. When whatshisnugget dropped the pass in the endzone, he didn't get mad or frustrated, he just laughed and went over and told the guy "you'll get it next time." (I don't remember who it was. The WR who isn't Deebo, McCaffery or Lane who probably shouldn't be playing...) I know he's an INTENSE competitor.

If he has that switch to flip, that's a really good leadership quality to have. And you don't have to flip it all the time. Otherwise people tune you out.

It appeared that on a throw / miscommunication with McCaffrey it showed JD pretty heated in the direction of McCaffrey. Hard to to tell from the tv shot of it but that's the impression I got. ......and this was after McCaffreys big catch.
When I get home tonight Ill try to find it, caught my eye at the time because like you said he doesn't seem to ever get upset.

I think JD5 yelling at LMC reflects growing familiarity between them, where JD5 feels comfortable venting at him without damaging the relationship. I read recently that the two of them meet at the Commanders facility every morning at 5:45 to watch film and do walkthroughs, so #11's flashes of productivity might also be a product of that strengthened bond.

I’ve been speculating for awhile JD doesn’t trust Luke to be where he is supposed to be.

Also I think a physical mistake will be much better tolerated by JD than a mental one. Don’t know the play you get chewed out. Drop a pass you’ll get it next time.

I need Luke McCaffrey to step up and be one of our top players.

The reason is that I need to get the nameplates changed on a couple 11 jerseys that my wife bought that have Wentz on the back 😂

I'm not going to spend the money or wear the jersey if he's another 💩

I believe DQ was a college assistant for three current HCs who played for those programs while he was there - Tomlin, McDermott and Morris. That's pretty crazy given the programs those guys came from

I don't think so. They have such entirely different personalities. I think Daniels is going to be much more calm and jovial, with moments of intensity. Tom was just intense all the time.

Brooks dropped the TD, and Daniels laughed and encouraged him. Tom would have lost his mind and gone bananas.

Daniels will continue to develop his leadership style, and he's going to hold other players accountable, but I think it's going to generally be with more of a smile on his face than not. Then there will be some moments, which will be noticeable and effective, where he gets aggravated.

This. Although JD5 does get fiery sometimes. Yelling at Luke. Kicking Jacory Brooks to the sideline for screwing up. “Get the fucking play in!” Last year.

I think it’s a good balance. Keeping people loose and being fiery when needed.

And I think it’s exactly correct that he is less willing to accept mental mistakes. Yelling at Moore isn’t going to make his hands better. He obviously just can’t catch the way an NFL receiver needs to. If you’re going to yell at someone about Moore dropping the ball, yell at the coaches to put someone else in there. In private.

I will say for Moore though, that I think he’s really great on special teams. Like, good enough to keep around for just that. I’ve seen plays where he just looked like a demon, and said to myself, “that was Moore? What?”
