It’s so sad that the two late comp picks were 2 of the top 3 players from that draft (as much grief as we give Davis, he did have that one big season here)

I agree, and it would not shock me if WR is at the top of the list in the upcoming draft....

And there are 30 teams that JJ would be a game changer for.

I have referred to that draft as "the draft we do not mention" and the 3rd pick in the draft as "he who shall not be named." Yes, Harry Potter references. I should have reserved He who shall not be named for Colt Brennan (RIP), but 'Comb was honestly just not worth mentioning at all.

That draft and the 2020 draft rival each other as the most pathetic in team history.

I agree with you, however that can be said for every team that doesn't have Justin Jefferson or somebody like him.

There just aren't a lot of them out there, and you have to kindof get lucky to get one. Just drafting a receiver high isn't enough.

As sad as this sounds, i feel like this is what drafts would look like if fans were in charge of the picks. It would be a shopping list of 'needs' and take the best player at a position of need with every pick.

It depends on which fans. I think some of our really good draft types on the board could do a lot better. The average joe fan? agree.

Yes, i do agree, but the majority of football fans aren't at the same level of dedication to be on a board like this, as well as others, for decades. Unfortunately, the majority (and the loudest) tend to be a bit less rational for a multitude of reasons.

Yes, i do agree, but the majority of football fans aren't at the same level of dedication to be on a board like this, as well as others, for decades. Unfortunately, the majority (and the loudest) tend to be a bit less rational for a multitude of reasons.

I don't know, even someone with little football knowledge could have done better than our crack staff/front office, especially in the draft we do not mention cry . Sadly there were a lot of horrible drafts in our past. and any old numskull could equal or bettered the result.

There are other recievers in this league that are game changers at WR, Jefferson was just an example while watching the Vikes this morning.

I’ve always felt the same way. There was a time long ago when there was such a thing as homefield advantage - home team typically got more calls in their favor.

Now, it’s evolved to the consistently winning teams. Ticky tack calls, ghost penalties, bad DPI calls extending drives, wiping out first downs on 3rd down putting them in 3rd and long, wiping out touchdowns on calls on other side of the field. Obvious bad calls not getting overturned on replay.

Even the prime time TV announcers are finally beginning to call out the refs.

Its just as frustrating for fans as players.

And the NFL just shrugs their shoulders every week, defends the indefensible, admits referee mistakes on occasion… and then does nothing to hold refs accountable and improve the situation.

Infuriating.

Yeah. Lattimore has declined immensely as a player but by far his biggest problem is that he’s developed a reputation for getting beat now, so he no longer gets the refs’ benefit of the doubt in close call situations. So he gets beat by WR’s half the time and the other half the time when he puts up a fight, he gets called for DPI. Some real, some ghost. But QB’s attack him regularly because the refs make it profitable even when he’s not getting beat outright. He’s going to have to be benched or get hurt for us to improve at CB and it’s only half because of bad play, he isn’t reffed like an average CB anymore.

Unless things turn around, I guess I was wrong. I was happy about the re-signing of Noah Brown. He was so effective before he got hurt last year and came up with some pretty important catches, but the guy just can't stay healthy. We should have re-signed OZ as the continuity receiver.
