I think we’re tier 3:
Tier 1: Detroit, Buffalo
Tier 2: KC, Pitt, Baltimore, Eagles
Tier 3: Washington, Vikings, GB, NFC west?
SF if healthy is probably a tier 2 team. TB is a better team than their record. Atlanta is a worse team than their record. I have no idea how good Miami is.
Interesting classification. For me, tier-1s are simply defined as teams that can be seen pretty easily as winning a Super Bowl. So, for me, that definitely includes (as of now):
Tier-1: Detroit, Buffalo, KC, Baltimore, Eagles
For me, Tier-2 comes in just behind; you can't easily see them winning a Super Bowl. You easily see them in the playoffs, you could see them squeaking into the championship game (maybe) but they will likely run into a tier-1 at some stage and be eliminated. Getting over the hump means you can easily see them beating tier-1 teams. So, Pitt probably earned a spot in Tier-1, and yet... (For me anyway):
Tier-2: Pitt, Vikings, GB, Washington (????? we shall see, but the close loss to Pitt may say something, and the close win to CHI may also say something; recently questions are present)
Tier-3 comes in just behind. You may see them squeak into the playoffs. Once there, however... adios. They probably run into tier-2 teams or tier-1 teams and are immediately out. Otherwise, they miss the playoffs by a hair.
Tier-4 ain't making the playoffs.
Tiers 3 and 4 are pretty big. "If healthy" for me, isn't really a thing - but sure, "if healthy" I guess SF would be tier-2 most likely. Since they aren't healthy though, I don't really tend to discuss it; health is part of the game always. So, SF is tier-3 right now, along with a lot of teams. I probably missed a few teams but I don't want to put too much into this right now (have some work) - but I had been meaning to make a post or a thread about this at some point. Since you opened the can of worms here... can opened!
