Random Commanders Thoughts

I think a gentleman’s bet is a far cry from placing an official legal bet. Are they saying they actually placed a bet at a gambling establishment? Surely neither of these guys is that stupid?

If it’s just an ‘I bet you…’ thing that’s not going to garner any attention.

Can we all take a solemn vow that we are not going to refer to Jayden Daniels as ‘JD5’?

The bad RG3 vibe that entails cannot be overstated. Seriously bad juju. Just say no.

I wish he had taken a number other than 5.

The quarterbacks here that took 5 which includes Heath Shuler and Donovan McNabb didn't do particularly well.

On the other hand, in addition to Tress Way, Curt Knight and Jeff Hayes also wore #5. So we just need to have Jayden quick-kick once his year and we should be good.

The article didn't say weather Nabers walked into a betting establishment. Daniels was not too cool with talking about it...

We should have an RG3 shirt burning party to exercise the demons... still have my superman logo shirt :p

These guys are like bad pennies.

Failed Redskins/Commanders like Ron Rivera, RGIII and others somehow get on TV and we end up seeing them commenting on and evaluating the actions of others, including coaches and players that are much more successful than they were here :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Those who can’t color commentate.

I know, but it's just so strange that ex-Redskins/Commanders would be of interest to the networks.

It's not like this franchise has been high visibility in recent years.

Don't see many ex-Cardinals or Panthers on the shows - teams that are usually as bad as we are.

If I weren't afraid of the workload, I'd suggest we do up some 'JD5' shirts in the same mode. But it's a pretty large pain in the ass to do t-shirts.

Ya, the graphic s part is easy enough, but the overall process is a huge pain in the ass

Good point, it probably has to do with being a major media market. They make the right friends, they can get in with connections eventually. That is my assumption at least.

Also, for all of his faults, RG3 is well-spoken.

the 'JD5' is analogous to the 'TB12' that Tom Brady uses to market himself. Not a bad model to emulate :D

Washington Wizards following a 2024 tradition will pick second in the NFL draft.

Nationals pick #2 and get a player out of LSU (Crews)
Redskins pick #2 and get a player out of LSU (Daniels)
Wizards pick #2 and start studying LSU game tape

The difference unfortunately for Wizards fans is the 2024 draft is bereft of the type of player even at the top that is going to be a franchise cornerstone like Daniels and Crews potentially are for the Commanders and Nationals.

The Wizards have held the #1 pick twice in the recent past and ended up in weak drafts where Kwame Brown and John Wall were the choices.

The key is setting yourself up by record to get a top pick in a year when it really matters.

Ovechkin in 2004 was the best prospect to come into the NHL since Mario Lemieux.

Strasburg and Harper were #1 picks in consecutive years 2009 and 2010. One was the best pitching prospect in a decade and ended up being a strong playoff performer and World Series MVP before getting injured. The other is having a HOF career even though he is now in Philadelphia. The Nationals got 5-6 years of top production out of Harper before his agent Scott Boras took him to free agency including an MVP season at age 21.

Wizards needed the #1 pick in 2023 when Victor Wembayama was available.

3rd time the Spurs were able to strip the team and tank for a franchise player - following on the David Robinson and Tim Duncan drafts.
