Random Commanders Thoughts

114??!

I'm sorry, but that's stupid. On a freeway it's still dangerous. On a road.....it's downright stupid.

So much for no off-field issues...*sigh*

This is his 3rd year too, which means the team has a choice over his 5th-year option in the spring. Wonder which way the wind is blowing over that...

apparently this is stemming from March of 22... even more curious why there was little focus on the LB room.

I mean, Davis has never seemed like a future Mensa member, but this is outright stupid even by NFL standards. He's very fortunate he didn't either run over someone or get himself killed. What kind of lack of judgement do you have to have to do something like that in broad daylight?

He's going to be in the doghouse so deep he might never work his way out of it. I'd really prefer we don't have this kind of mental midget on our roster.

Agreed on Davis. He seems to be a player whose offseason focus is on taking risks rather than improving himself as an NFL player.

No doubt the poor guy thinks he has already made it in the NFL by being a first round pick and starting games early on.

ALL teams that take first round picks play these guys given the investment but when it comes time to pony up on that second contract, you really can't afford under the cap if you are a responsible GM to give a guy with Davis' judgment a $60 or $70 million extension.

Unless he changes course he appears to be a guy that moves on after his rookie deal.

Getting my son an old Sean Taylor jersey and my neighbor says "hey, man. My kid likes Sean Taylor and wants a jersey. Can you recommend something?"

The legend lives!!

Why doesn't Ron tell them to step up instead of EB slowing down?

Today's news stories are really baffling to me.

Good for coach!!

These dudes are used to being coddled and soft. It's nice to see that old school mentality come in and make them work

We are soft.

[/QUOTE I love this because I can relate to this . What Ron is talking about imo happens on every level from youth to pros . My two sons played /play for the same HS Coaches and in particular their lacrosse coach is an EB type of coach . My older son ate they type of coaching for lunch, it motivated him . My younger son hates it and honestly I can see how it affects his play . I think JDR approach is more of what it should be . To get the most out of your players you have to understand what makes them tick. It’s your job as a coach to get as much out of that player and understanding how they react to what your coaching will help with that . It’s EB’s first real crack at actually running the entire show without being under someone’s shadow. I believe as he matures he’ll understand that better . Or maybe he won’t

I think Bienemy has total awareness of his coaching style and I think it’s kind of a joke that Rivera whose teams have often been unprepared to imply EB has a lot of growing to do. This coming from a HC who looked at the OC of one of the worst offenses in the league and then extended his contract only to be forced to fire him a year later.

Rhino - I do get your point, and I’ve also experienced EBs style of coaching and responded to it myself. He will have to use it more judiciously as he goes forward, and I suspect he will. But coming into THIS situation, his goal was to wake these guys the **** up and set a different bar. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Ron doesn’t get that since he’s The one who molded the previous environment that produced poor results.
