Random Commanders Thoughts

Trent - gone
Scherff - gone
Moses - gone

The people in charge make it a habit of letting players walk that continue on with successful careers.

Another thing that Wentz did horribly, especially in the first half was change cadence. Look at the number times that the browns had defenders with running starts when they blitzed. This is basic offense 101.

The whole thing is laughable at this point.

Ron back doing interviews again.

"I made a bit of a gaffe yesterday in saying I didn't know we could be eliminated from the playoffs"

He really needs to just shut up and go away.

In fairness, 2 of these 3 were never going to play here again and I remember a lot of folks on this board calling for Moses to get benched.

Why weren't they going to play here again though? That's the organization right there. People sign new contracts all the time on crappy teams if they feel happy.

I was one of those calling for Moses to be benched, and rightfully so. But, he was better than what we have now. You don't sell your car if you only have a unicycle for transportation. You sell it for a car worth the same or better.

Julie Donaldson and Smoot did. "what I'm looking forward to in 2023". The PR staff needs to go. They are pretty clueless.

Have you heard her on the radio broadcasts? I've been unfortunate to hear it. The whole crew is bad, but she will wait for Bram or London to take a breath to read some useless stat about the game or one of the players. It rarely flows and it's like she's just been sitting on that stat for a few plays. It's really awkward most of the times I've heard it. Maybe if you listen all the time it's not as bad, but listening in short spurts, it's pretty brutal. It definitely seems like they have a cast that would work for the money they were paying.

She shouldn't have gotten the job to begin with. I don't hate her, but like you say, there is no flow and it doesn't feel genuine.

Well, you can ask the question if there is another team in the NFL that has THREE first round picks on the defensive line and just one recent #2 pick on the offensive line.

When Beathard was here we signed street free agents or picked up waiver guys and a lot of times these guys could actually play.

The players this team brings in as plugs or fill ins are rarely worth more than the $100 waiver fee.

Make what you want if this...

If true though and Ron returns in '23, there is a real chance that if things go sour early in the year, he might lose the locker room fast and not have one of those mid season claw backs like we have witnessed the last few seasons.

I'm not really in the mood to hear it. All players should need to play their ass off in Week 17 of an NFL season is knowing it's win or go home - no matter who is playing QB. We rolled over to an inferior team who had nothing to play for, at home. Pathetic. It's on all of the coaches AND the players.

You could see the tone Chase had when talking to him on the sidelines. It was a "let's get it together and go". He was not happy at all.

Standig himself pushed back on that Tweet from an apparent nobody. Ben said he is not aware of any ‘insider’ who has heard of it. I’m not saying it’s ultimately not true, just that Mr. Riedman may have more likely been Tweeting out of his ass. Not an uncommon phenomenon.

I hope you are right and it’s just some rando spreading garbage. Because if that’s true, then the guys on that team that feel this way will never be successful.

First off, whether we agree with Ron’s decision or not, he’s the coach and it’s his decision. He bares the responsibility for that decision. The same is true for the players. Coaches aren’t paid to be someone’s friend or cater to players feelings. They are paid to make the hard decisions which may mean sitting a guy you like. And if Ron were to say “I asked the players and they said start this guy”, he would look weak and show he’s not in charge. Maybe that’s already true. But Ron is the one that has to answer for his decision that did not work in any way, shape, or form this past week.

If players weren’t happy that Wentz’s name was called to start, they need to get over it. If they didn’t play hard because Wentz started, then they aren’t guys you can win with. There will always be guys that players don’t think should play that are playing in the game. It’s not a player’s job to determine their effort based on who is lined up next to them. Also, if this is true, what’s their excuse for not winning the previous three game when Heinicke played? The 2 games against the Giants were more important than this one.

fwiw.. this 'story' is unravelling from this dude. Standig stumped him and he's walking it back.

This whole thing is dumb even though it goes to something I've called out several times - this team plays different with Heinicke under center.
