Plus, Rodgers would need at least a little help from his team, in order to take it out on someone.
And it doesn't look like he's getting much help.
 
I don't think the defense is what you guys should be concerned with.

The OC that can't figure out how to gameplan for a leaky Oline and how to use Antonio Gibson is the elephant in the room
 
Sittin, tryin to figure why on Earth does Turner call so few running plays.
I wonder if he's tryin to audition for a HC job, and his resume would look better if it's full of passing yards, as opposed to full of rushing yards. Or something of that nature

It's a head scratcher for sure. I know the line is not good, but then in games like against dallas, they were running the ball well and he got away from it. It seems like he is a pass the ball to setup the run kind of guy. But if the pass isn't working, why not go more with the run? I really don't know, but I do know that only a few things are working right now while the rest are failing.

I think much of our resistance to the run is that Turner doesn't trust Antonio Gibson anymore. He's doing everything he can to make sure Gibson doesn't run the ball even if he has success. It feels like Samuels, Robinson, McKissic, and even Wentz have had more runs called for them (not sure if true).

That's the other head-scratcher. The O-line seems to be better at run-blocking than pass-blocking.
Yet we continue to put our QB in harm's way, much more than necessary.
Plus, what makes it worse, is the defense knows what pass plays are coming, because we're so predictable.
In fact, maybe that's part of the reason why our rushing attack does pretty well, is because anytime we run the ball, we're catching the Defense off-guard, lol
 
Taylor Heinicke starting helps Turner. His mobility helps negate the leaky interior OL as he can roll out and throw on the run and be a legitimate threat to pick up first downs on his own when things break down.

We can also get back to throwing the ball short and intermediate to Terry McLaurin and Co. and watch them pile up some YAC for us.

Carson Wentz to me is a throwback to the Rypien/Schroeder days of the limited mobility quarterback who had a deep arm but inconsistent accuracy in the middle of the field and with third down decision-making.

The 1980's and early 1990's solutions of max pro - 3 tight end formations and one wide receiver running a route on the outside won't work with today's defenses.

If this team exercises the option and brings Wentz back at $28M to quarterback this team going forward the fork will be in Rivera, if it already hasn't gone in.

I was listening to ESPN and the stat was Wentz is among the top 10 paid quarterbacks in the NFL in 2022.

Are we getting top 10 performance? top 15? top 20?

IMO Wentz is down there around 25 or 26, 27 overall among starting quarterbacks.

If the team is at 3-10 going forward I want to see Howell for those last meaningless 3-4 games to see what the rookie has.

Wentz at 29/30 and Heinicke at 29 are what they are. No scheme is going to elevate them to the upper echelon of passers.

The search goes on and it begins in house with our own draft pick from 2022. Howell was supposed to go by the end of Round 2 by most accounts.

If Washington is 7 or 8 games out of first place there is no reason to go backward to Wentz.
 
Guys, in most games we’re down by 20 before we can blink our eyes. Being down double-digits especially by half-time is going to mean a heavy emphasis on passing. I get the argument that we are down 29 because we aren’t running the ball and there’s some truth to that. But teams that fall behind are going to be pass heavy in the NFL. That’s just the way it is.

They need to run more. And they need to stop falling behind early and being unable to convert on 3rd down to sustain drives.
 
I don't see Wentz coming back this year.
When he's healthy, it will be one of the other 2 QB's depending how Taylor does.
If Heinicke fails, they will finish with Howell.
If Heinicke is hot, they stick with him.
Maybe there's a scenario in between, where Heinicke plays average, but somehow we're still in the playoff hunt, in which Wentz returns.
Another unlikely scenario that he returns, is if he somehow recovers early, like in about 4 weeks

I think it's very unlikely they go to Howell this year. I think there's a legitimate argument they *should*, but this is a very conservative coaching staff and I don't see it happening. If Heinicke doesn't play lights out, they will absolutely go back to Wentz in a month or so.
 
Watching Donald Parham and DeAndre Carter be productive players for the Chargers and wondering if Ron and his front office have a clue......
 
Now I know why Rivera was so big on receivers having a wide catch radius.

I honestly don't think any one player is worth that much.

To me, Brady pulled a Shaq move with his move. He was motivated to show everyone he was the reason NE won all those rings, and they stacked a team around him to help. Now, he's mediocre considering what he is paid.
