Random Commanders Thoughts

I don't know how we think this is a winning roster guys? Our DBs are God-Awful. God-Awful. We actually traded for WJ3??? The guy cannot play the position - he looked like a rookie out there. I'm not even going to waste my time talking about Fuller. And St. Juste is the best of them, but you can count on him to blow a coverage at the worst time most of the time. The OL is in shambles. Even the guys who are legit starters are bad. I realize some of this is due to injuries, but our backups as I've previously ranted about are not even NFL caliber players. Those are our two biggest liabilities, but they are huge issues. You cannot win - period - if you cannot protect your QB (assuming you have one who can play the position). And you cannot win if you cannot even slow down the opponents passing game.

Our roster is no where near as good as we thought it would.

So, this is the team that Rivera took three years to assemble, huh? This is the team that he thought was just a QB away?

If Ron was right then he has the worst coaching staff in the league. Right now, this team is an insult to train wrecks.
The one QB away narrative was simply a media fabrication to cover up the direction the owner actually wants from this team, which is towards an irrelevant joke(being named Washington Football Team for two years was part of going in this direction). Going in such a direction neuters the public outcry over Snyder's misconduct, thus he doesn't get the Epstein or Weinstein treatment. You think we were the ones with a deadline and the not the Colts needing to cut Wentz and eating a cap hit.

The coaches are treating this season as preseason 4eva.

I agree with you, but what I don't get is that Jackson was supposedly a really good cover corner in Cinci. How are we playing him so differently that he looks like a scrub? I kind of remember the same thing happening with Jeremiah Trotter where he was great with Philly, awful with us, and then great with Philly again. The Jackson experiment seems different. In his second year, he looks unfit to be on an NFL roster.

Oh yeah, I'm not arguing coaching isn't a huge problem. I'm just saying we are bereft of talent in a lot of places. I wish it was just coaching but I don't think it is.

Understood. Ron's been buying the groceries though,so that's on him and the Marty's too.

Just an endless cycle with this club: Hire new staff, show some glimpse of hope within the first two years to get hopes up,then immediately turn to crap.
Wash,rinse,repeat.

Jets fans had more fun than we did today. Let that sink in.

Why couldn't we have gotten Trubisky to be a tackling dummy?

They rushed three and got through...three.

We rush four and can't even sniff the QB.

It's very telling.

1-3, loss to a backup quarterback for Dallas.

And remember this is the easy part of the schedule sports fans 😀

Maybe that franchise passer will be ours come next April.

This right now is one of the 3-4 worst performing teams in the league.

Interestingly, though Washington got beat somehow the burgundy and gold did not lose.

Well, I assume with your moniker, the new uniforms don't sit well. They don't sit well with me either. Black is not one of the colors of the team. Black and gold is Pittsburgh. Stop trying to be cool by using black. It doesn't work because the team isn't cool no matter what they're wearing. And you're not going to sell more merchandise if the team sucks.

0-1 in the new unis. Retire them.

We are the maroon and black. Jason Wright is the Jim Zorn of team presidents. Dan Snyder is, well, the Dan Snyder of owners.

we didnt trade for WJ3, he was our 'big' free agent signing that offseason.

He also has always been known predominantly as a highly effect man to man DB. He showed it today, he was in position A LOT when it was man. He had a couple penalties, but the dude was there. The TD to Lamb makes no sense. I know we'll never know the play call, but Jackson looked like he was playing Zone while McCain and Curl were playing man. Jackson was bailing taking away the sideline... like he believed there would be help over the middle / top. Fuller was a top of the league slot corner when he left here to go to KC where he won a SB playing a rotation of slot corner and FS. We ask him to play outside in a heavy soft - zone scheme. We've all seen St Juste out play both of those other guys when he's outside, and we start him on the inside at slot. We see Jamin Davis flash when he's playing down hill, either as a QB spy, or when he's blitzing... instead we count on him to cover Ceedee Lamb and Michael Gallup. We see Davis throttle Goff on a perfectly executed stunted blitz, and I dont know that i've seen him blitz in the 11 quarters since.

As far as the O-line goes, we rush for 100 yards in the first half playing a down hill style of power run, then we switch to an outside zone / draw heavy. The first half the playcalling had the O-line going forward... There were quick hitting plays where we saw Terry, Samuels, and Gibson getting the ball in their hands fast allowing them to make plays. In the 2nd half, we only saw those playcalls when were behind the sticks. We were scheming up 50/50 balls.

Our roster is a lot better than what we've seen... the problem is we're being held down by a coaching staff that refuses to adjust to their strengths.. and refuses to adjust to what the other team is doing. I've always been on the optimistic side, but none of us believed this team was truly a contender... we just figured there was a lot of room to make hay because of the talent of the team, but nobody can win with the coaching decisions we've seen... the team on the other side is too good to just lay down and die.

This game was winnable today with a competent QB. Wentz is the reason that we lost. The play-calling was so conservative today because Turner and Rivera know that Wentz's decision making and accuracy sucks ass.

Most competent head coaches would have benched Wentz by now, because he is so freaking horrible. There is no way in hell that Wentz should have still been out there playing in the 4th quarter today, not after the past 3 games.
