I think the people who were excited about this were assuming he can write. And by that, I mean write a coherent novel with truth. I don’t mean he’s illiterate. It sounded like he thought he could capitalize on this movement against the team, but really he has nothing. He’d have to invent things or use hearsay and rumors to get anyone interested. Of all the players the Redskins have had, I doubt RG3 has any real dirt on anyone.

He had a co-author (ghost writer) who reportedly has walked away from the project.

He was a regular college football analyst for ESPN during the past season for secondary games and has been appearing on a couple of the talking head opinion shows since the season ended.

I agree. He was on an FSU game that I watched and I found him very annoying.

I don’t believe ESPN had anything to do with it. They love controversy and scandal. If they could use their influence to push out an owner, especially one that is tied to sexual assault, they would do it in a heartbeat.

My only response to that is why isn't this the lead story then? Florio is running with this story and I see little outrage from the 4 letter network

My main response is to the Griffin book deal and his supposed details. I don’t think he has anything worthwhile and that’s why he can’t find a writer.

As for ESPN, I don’t know why it’s not being covered more. My cynical thought is because then they would have to address the DeSean Watson scandal as well, which they have just been trying to avoid. I think they are torn in that one over which side to pick. Again, that’s the cyclical guess from me. But it’s also cynical to say that ESPN won’t cover the Snyder scandal just to protect a corporate partner.

I think a more reasonable explanation is they are waiting for that smoking gun. They are waiting on something obvious. It could be because the way ESPN stories are ranked is by page views. So the general public may not be as interested and not viewing the story, which pushes it down the page and ESPN doesn’t spend time covering it. Outside of this market, I don’t think it’s moving the needle and that seems to be ESPN’s main motivation for what they cover these days.
