Random Commanders Thoughts

Wow. How could Haskins be so stupid? Who is going to play QB on Sunday? Is it Taylor Heinicke? Is that his name? Holy crap.

If Haskins has to miss time for this I'd cut him tomorrow.
Uncle Rico and Al Bundy have just been signed to 1 year contracts.

At the end of the day, for me, this latest Haskins story is just another bitter reminder that despite the improved play, despite some of the exciting young talent we have assembled on this roster, despite a great coach who seemingly is turning this franchise around, we are always living under the shadow of Dan. After all, Haskins by accounts was Dan's hand-picked draft choice.

Sure, there has been promise this year, but reality suggests that Rivera has years of cleaning up the mess Dan created prior to his arrival. All we can hope for in the meantime is that Rivera's leadership and the football people can do enough good to keep the product on the field stable and improving, while also keep us fans engaged.
It's old news, but being "hand-picked" is more than idle speculation. He really has a relationship with one of Snyder's children.

There remains an NFL connection today to the school: The son of Redskins owner Dan Snyder is a sophomore football player there and is friendly with Haskins.

I am speculating here, but Snyder very much might be wishing to live a fantasy, which is being tight with a star QB.

Also, Haskins has been very well-protected by his father in the press. So whatever flaws were observed got buried since his father was very media-savvy. https://www.nj.com/giants/2019/04/h...e-haskins-father-before-he-hung-up-on-me.html

This is just mind boggling. How can he not get anything. He gets nothing. The fact he was already fined once this year and is still going out and doing this stuff is just beyond comprehension. I didn’t think after Sunday he would see the field again baring Smith’s health, but now I question if he will even be in the locker room on Sunday. I think if they weren’t in a playoff race, they would suspend him or cut him. But with them being in first place and trying to hold on, they probably will just have to deal with this for a few more games. Which is what sucks about this. The team is put in a position that they almost have to suck it up and put up with this type of behavior.

Agree Henry. You have to look at it in context. You’ve already been disciplined for violating league COVID rules, you just took over as starter, and you do this? Jesus Christ - you can’t be a normal human being and just chill with a girlfriend - it takes a gaggle of strippers to get it done for you? Seems like Haskins is just another mental midget in a long line of NFL mental midgets. The sooner his ass is out of here the better.

The league may suspend him.

I agree though that this is the final straw for looking beyond 2020.

Haskins is an over-hyped, super ego like Jeff George was at 23 and NO COACH was able to control George during his NFL career.

It takes more than a strong arm to be a successful NFL qb and Dwayne’s 5.1 yard per attempt average shows his lack of ability to use his arm to any great effect at this level.

He’s still a mechanics-flawed passer who can’t seem to grow beyond delivering the ball in a one read attack.

In a way he is like Troy Apke. A lot of physical talent but no real instincts for the NFL game.

For some of these guys the pace of play never slows down enough for them to use their athleticism on the field to any great degree.

Haskins is doing what Colt McCoy used to do here - throw the ball to the backs and TE and hope one of them breaks it all the way.

Otherwise each drive is 16 plays because the offense can’t churn more than 7 or 8 yards on any one play.

I would ASSUME you will see a 'suspension' come first, followed by an outright release if they choose to do so. There is likely some verbage within the contract that has an out if the player is guilty of 'conduct detrimental to the team / league' and his guaranteed money may be void...

I think the fact that the team apparently reported this to the league for them to manage signals where they are with him.

I’ll be honest with you, I was irritated just seeing his diamond bedazzled #7 earring during the game. You haven’t done **** Haskins - you aren’t Deion Sanders. Act like it.

I mean, I don't want to seem weird here...but, a gaggle of strippers isn't THAT bad in normal times...LOL

For Mahomes he can get away with it during non-COVID times 😆😆

But Haskins? He had NO ROOM for error and didn’t seem to learn that over the last 9-10 weeks.

He’s clueless.

I thought it said the team was going to handle it internally?

Gaggle of Strippers is the name of my next band

Could be ST - saw something about the team contacting the league but not sure where

I think you HAVE to contact the league right now due to COVID.

I mean, lets be honest. If it wasn't COVID times a pro athlete at a strip club only makes headlines because of his name.

This is only a real problem because of the mask and rules.

It’s a problem for Haskins under any circumstances.

From what I have gathered listening to ex-Panthers players and those that know him Haskins really screwed up to get Rivera that down on him.

Rivera was the guy telling Cam Newton to ignore the criticism and go out and win football games.

Cam was also winning games right out the gate.

Winning stops a lot of drama and negativity.

From a business-only standpoint, Haskins having strippers could be tolerated if it doesn't mess with the team or his work. But during these times, the nature of COVID is that "all it it takes is one" and it spreads fast.

His so-called work ethic also seems very lacking for the NFL, meaning that he might be having too much fun.

Heck, Aaron Hernandez was a total on-field professional even with his "issues", which is why he was able to bury his private life until he went too far.

I'm done with him. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt when he seemed to show contrition. It would be bad enough to go out and party hard during the season when the playoffs are a possibility. You might right it off to a young man with plenty of money. But to do it now, in a pandemic, after you've already be fined for not following NFL rules (not team rules), knowing you are automatically going to hurt your team is just shameful and shows an extreme lack of maturity and seriousness. I was just starting to get my hopes up that we could actually be in the playoffs even if we aren't a great team. I'll take anything, but then this kid shows himself as an ass.
