That's why you're my guy, El. We can disagree without being trollish or resorting to immature name-calling or digs (unlike elsewhere on the interwebz). Brown was prob more impactful - but there is the advantage of looking back and reflecting on it. With Kaep - were are still living in the moment of it. He has certainly brought more awareness to the issue. With the advent of being able to record incidents on the phone and sharing it -- now people that have not had to directly deal with this, can at least know that the issues are not new. People have to deal with this on the regular, all the time. The Kaep stuff hits home more for me also - because I can literally, personally relate. Thank God, none of the interactions got violent, but I have been hassled in my life by cops just for existing in the skin I have. And of course your everyday prejudiced crap like crossing the street to avoid crossing my path, purse clutching, or the "wow, you speak so well for a black guy." Gaah. Obviously doesn't feel good when that happens.
 
I know it's trite and an oversimplification, but I long for the day when the terms 'white' and 'black' (as if they actually describe ANY of us in any meaningful way) are as frowned upon as racist epithets are. It blows my mind that we are still using those terms as a form of mass stereotyping. And no one seems to notice at all. And I hate that you have had to experience those things brother. There is no doubt things have gotten better over time, but we are clearly not there yet. Someday...
 
I guarantee we’re gonna hear the ‘change the name’ crowd piping up real soon as well.

The part that gets me is the players have local to international press at their fingertips 24/7, a whole off season, & 6 days a week to make any statement they want. The players know full well what they’re doing during the anthem, regardless of what they claim it is or isn’t about.

What Dan & coach are doing with the town halls are brilliant, and are probably leading the league in the awareness department as well. To me THIS is what’s going to get people behind their message instead of the kneeling, but it’s just my opinion which isn’t worth much anyways.
 
Well...I'll just add a different perspective. From Navy days and elsewhere I have some close minority friends. In my last job, a former gangbanger and I developed a friendship that opened my eyes to a lot. Reality in most cases, according to these very people, is that racism is a component, the humiliations Enforcer speaks to do happen. But to a man, they all stated the same themes: this is more about poverty than it is racism; this is also about exploitative leadership. Everyone lamented instances in which minority police hastled them; they described how the poltical infrastructure, mostly in inner cities, exploited them. Again, their main theme was that the common denominataor in most instances was poverty. The poor can't defend themselvs. The poor seldom have the resources to escape. The "system", in the end, doesn't care. Maybe my sample set was small. But this is what I heard and learned from people I trust.

In my own mind, this is above all else about fair and equal application of the rule of law. The problem I'm seeing is that it has to be applied at the top and the bottom. If absent at either end (and the middle), it doesn't exist and the game is over -for everyone. That's what I hear when the clarion call for unity goes out.

You guys definitely know the area better than some of us but is there somewhere the team could realistically relocate vicinity wise?

D.C. seems like a lost cause and Richmond definitely appears out of the question as well. Just seems like they’re screwed with the choices that've been mentioned already.

Richmond was never in contention, there is too large a gathering in Maryland for that to happen...it's 2 hours from the DC/MD border.

As for perfect locations there is only one that can properly service the entire DMV, that is Oxon Hill Farms across 495 from the MGM and the National Harbor. It is the Perfect location with an infrastructure in place that would allow traffic to flow in 4 directions away from the stadium. It is on the Potomac one mile as the crow flies away from the baseball and soccer stadiums recently built, and can service metro, once a new line gets built. The new Woodrow Wilson bridge was built with metro in mind, so it's capable of getting a metro line that would serve all 3 area features, the Harbor, the Casino, and the Stadium.

The problem was a deal for a land swap reportedly fell through, but there is a rumor that behind the scenes that land swap will go through after all in a new location. I'll believe it when I see it.

Otherwise, the stadium gets built in suburban VA and much of the Maryland fanbase will be alienated.

As for changing the name...it's more of the progressive movement pushing a false narrative, that the name is offensive. To whom? The Washington Post tried to prove the name was offensive, found that 9 out of 10 Native Americans surveyed found the name NOT offensive, but that little fact gets ignored.
 
That sounds like a great place for the new stadium. Hope like hell they don’t go back to D.C. for this current mayor’s recent comments. I’d like to see Dan come out publicly with a ‘thanks but no thanks’ aimed toward Ms Bowser.
 
One another note. A couple weeks ago NFLN was re-airing some episodes of "A football Life" with Redskins' players, ST and Doug Williams. After at 3am they showed the entire Super Bowl 17 so I recorded it.

I finally had a chance to sit down and watch every play from the game. Miami came out on fire, and if not for Dexter's timely sack/fumble we could have found ourselves down by 14 in the 1st Q.

As the game progressed, you could see that the Skins were the overall better team. If not for a couple of untimely Special Teams blunders and a 2nd INT from Theisman, the Dolphins would not have been in the game after the 1st Q.

Two aspects of that game struck me, other than Riggins dominance. First, our defense was good, real good. Second, Theisman was a pretty good QB. He didn't have a rocket, but still had a pretty strong arm and tremendous touch. I watched him put passes on the money in tight squeezes, and just over the defender. His fade pass to Alvin Garrett for our 1st TD was an absolute thing of beauty. And he was smart, I don't give him enough credit for that, but he was in complete control of that offense from start to finish in that game.

I watch that game too a few weeks ago. DVR is a wonderful thing! I was only 5 when that game took place. Literally the only thing I remember is my parents calling me into their room to watch President Reagan call the team in the locker room. Other than that, I just had the highlights, which the Riggins run is one of the most iconic moments. The thing I enjoyed watching the game was how the Hogs worked as a unit on the line. So many runs, it was like the line moved together to push the Dolphins D line back 3 or 4 yards before Riggins even had to make a move or break a tackle. It was a thing of beauty to watch on so many plays. I enjoyed getting to watch the game. I saw Super Bowl 22 probably 100 times the years after the game. My parents had it on tape and I wore out the VCR watching it over and over. I've seen Super Bowl 26 in it's entirety probably only twice. It's a shame that game isn't on more as it was a total domination from perhaps one of the 5 best teams in the Super Bowl era.
 
I was at UVa for the win against Miami. Watched with a bunch of friends. And that Riggins play was one of life's rare moments of pure joy.
 
Man - it never gets old watching the Doug Williams Super Bowl!

Also, glad for Skins not to be on this list. Baahaha, I hope the Dak issue draaaaaags on and becomes a major distraction!
