Lol - and extra 3rd is ‘a lot more’ imho, but I hear you. I sort of hate the compensatory pick system as I think a lot of teams game the system by parting ways with players who still have value. Who does that really benefit - it just encourages more roster turnover which is the biggest negative in the modern NFL if you ask me.

I think the worst thing about it is, that it tremendously devalues picks, beginning in Round 4, and exponentially more, each round after that.

That’s what I was guessing too unless she’s got info from agents or something. Bradberry would be a welcome addition to our secondary, maybe even teach Dunbar some humility after he signs.

He’d fill a gigantic hole we have at CB, though I suppose we may be looking for a more reasonable budget going forward.

There always seems to be surprise cuts before and even after FA starts so the team could be eyeing cheaper options there. The new staff may really like Moreland as well

Here’s a question and pardon me if it’s a dumb one to some.

The reporting on Scherff’s non-exclusive tag indicated that no team would offer the Redskins the formula package called for in the CBA and something lower would have to be negotiated.

My question is why would you pay the highest salary at the position on a long term deal in terms of guarantees if no one is willing to offer stated substantial compensation to obtain the player?

Two obvious reasons are potentially age and position. Scherff is 28, not young, but with 3-4 prime years left at OG if he stays healthy.

So to me it comes down to position. Teams don’t value guards as they do other several other positions.

So why should we?

If the Redskins can resign the 26 year old Flowers to play RG and install Wes Martin as the LG the team could save a boatload of money to use for other positions such as LT, CB, WR, OLB that figure to impact the team more in the league today with the cap and passing rules we have in place.

Teams like KC, Seattle and NE that contend from year to year seem to largely avoid giving outsized deals to OG, OC and RB.

I think it definitely puts into perspective as to why most of the league hated us for years. Well still today but the uber lucrative contracts are ridiculous
