Win - just using this as an opportunity to mention something. We’ve gotten in a habit of using this thread for everything Redskins-related. I had not even seen this until I stumbled on it this morning because it was buried in this thread. Don’t be afraid to start a new thread folks - this is a big topic. And folks are much more likely to take note of news or a topic if it’s put in a new thread. Of course, there are times when a thought fits nicely into an existing thread and doesn’t warrant its own thread. But I feel like we have all gotten in the habit of using threads like Twitter :)

If he doesn’t a 1st works in exchange. Im imagining three 1’s from Miami, a 1st for Scherff, and a 2nd for Trent.

Having 5 picks in the first 50 would be amazing! Throw in we can parlay a few into more 2nds and 3rds and voila we’re jumpstarted
 
Good arguments on all sides. From where I sit, it's clear TW doesn't want to be in DC. Let FA play out and see what happens. The FO will weigh value returned against risk of lockerroom issues. As for Scherff, negotiations have been underway for a while. The ceiling on renumeration (if hardball is played) is the franchise tag value. This is second contract manuevering going on. It'll work out. It would appear keeping both has a limited probability if they keep to their demands.
 
In my mind a couple of things in Scherff's favor if I am the team.

One, he is 29 and not 32 like Trent so he is more likely to play out a deal where he gets guaranteed money over say 4 years.

Two, he hasn't been suspended twice before and seems to be a solid citizen with a good approach to getting his work done.

Three, he hasn't bashed the organization or negotiated his contract in the newspapers.

I still think $16M a year with $65M guaranteed for a guard is a lot of money, but if you plan on replacing Moses and Williams with less expensive high draft picks in 2020 and 2021 then I can see it working out with Brandon as the veteran leader along the OL.

If Wes Martin becomes the LG and Rouiller remains the center that's two guys we have on rookie deals playing for at or below $1M for 2020.

It's amazing - it took all this time for Trent's camp to finally come out and speak the truth - he wanted out of town and was not going to come back here for a new GM, coach or a reasonable extension.

He played the talk of a contract extension at $19M or $20M to scare the Redskins off, while I wager if he works out a deal to go to another team he will not get more than Lane Johnson got in 2018, $18M, and will probably settle in the $15M range.

As it turns out Baby Trent just wanted to go play in another sandbox.

Whether he had valid reasons for wanting to leave, he could have stood up and said it directly to the Washington staff and media/fans weeks ago after Rivera came aboard.

And the contract that he now describes as unsatisfactory and unfair because he doesn't get guaranteed money in 2020 is the one he couldn't wait to sign a couple of years ago when it made him the highest paid OL in league history with much of the money front-loaded per his request.

He just turned 28...he won't be 29 until the end of the upcoming season.

In the grand scheme of your argument it doesn't make much difference...but it'd be nice if you stopped providing alternate facts. You do this often.
 
Dunbar has gone so far to walk back his trade demand he is now claiming he doesnt care "because i have one year left"
 
Elephant - the truth is that someone else a week ago indicated that Scherff was 25. So, the fact I was 8 months or so off on his birthday I think can be forgiven (although not forgotten ;)).

Also, depending upon the particular source online especially for the draft we find different heights and weights for prospects as well as 40 times, based upon when it was timed.

What is the truth in those cases? I don't know I haven't measured the potential picks or put a stopwatch on 'em.

In some cases people are relating what a guy ran as a sophomore vs. a more recent time, etc.
 
So we got a 4th rounder for Crowder who was drafted in the 4th round.....
 
We’d have gotten a lot more except for our signing of Collins. The good news is, we got Collins :)

The bad news is the Giants were awarded a 3rd rd pick and two 7th rders and the Eagles were awarded a 3rd td and two 4th round picks. Dallas got a 5th rd pick.

not sure about 'a lot' more... 3rd round comp pick is the highest it goes, and Collins can only cancel out 1 outbound FA. I would imagine that Crowder actually would have been a 3rd, which Collins cancelled out, and the 4th we got actually was for Nsekhe.
 
Lol - and extra 3rd is ‘a lot more’ imho, but I hear you. I sort of hate the compensatory pick system as I think a lot of teams game the system by parting ways with players who still have value. Who does that really benefit - it just encourages more roster turnover which is the biggest negative in the modern NFL if you ask me.
