Boone and Lewis are tight buddies, for him to be able to know that

Look - it's possible I'm wrong. I don't want him as a head coach, so I hope I am wrong and his name is coming up with the DC role in mind. But most coordinators who have become head coaches, especially for an extended time, aren't going to settle for a coordinator job right away. I think that's an exception. And again, he got fired after a very long stretch as a HC. Assuming he will want to be a HC again doesn't require genius. It's just plain old common sense.

Marvin Lewis is basically a defensive minded Norv Turner.

In big games, his teams found ways to lose...just like Norv's.

Why anyone would entertain thoughts of him coming here,in any capacity, just seem sadist to me...

This fact is one of the reasons I like Jim Schwartz. He has shown he is capable of biting the bullet and taking the DC job a year after being fired when he went to work in Buffalo as the DC. He then took an Eagles defense from worst to near the top in his first season with the Eagles, helping Doug Peterson win his first SB.

I know how you feel.
But the truth is...okay my opinion is...that in just a matter of weeks, as the offseason digs in, that all of us Skins' fans are going to begin to starve for football - any kind of football, so might as well enjoy it while it's here, no matter what "form" or "level" it is, or how we feel about the team.
Remember each year, when preseason starts, that we're all pretty much like "I'm so hungry for Skins football, I don't care if it's a meaningless game".
Well that's how I view these last few "meaningless" games of the regular season. Just want to appreciate it, because I keep in mind what it's like, to not have any Skins football for 7 months.

I do appreciate the heads up but I'll probably skip it all together. Was hoping to see Haskins and the young wr's growing together but our realtor & photographer will be at the house Monday so a cleaning it is!

tell you what...Wisconsin...now watching the Clemson game: Chase Young doesn't look all that dominant to me. He's not being doubled teamed.

I'm thinking maybe we trade down, get an OT or CB and a second or third.

I've been thinking the same with Andrew Thomas at LT. He seems like a very 'safe' pick at arguably our most pressing position of need. However, most of the videos I watched of him he doesn't stand out as dominate, more of a good pick. Nothing like when Trent or even Okung were coming out.

A trade down is our best bet, partner's willing of course. As long as GM fill in the blank doesn't get too greedy we should come out pretty well in a trade down. Recouping our 2nd is damn near paramount at this point.

Read an article this morning that DS has been advised by independent NFL sources on Skins org structure and next moves. All predicated on the obvious that the better coaches won't come here as presently structured/lead. Nothing on GM choices which suggests the rumored internal promotions will happen. Rivera is apparently the leading candidate. Separately, there are posts from the Rivera camp that he expects to be signed quickly. He is a minority candidate and apparenlty can be interviewed/signed immediately. Allen likely to be retained in some as yet unknown role that is "separate from football operations".

I'ld be interested in undersatnding how things fell apart in Carolina before signing Rivera. Don't care if he went top the SB once. If the wheels are off the wagon, then pass.

Agreed. He needs to be ALL THE WAY out. As long as he's around, he'll have influence

The *rumor* is that Snyder reached out to some NFL personnel for help, not that the NFL 'stepped in' somehow. And the vagueness of these reports makes it impossible to know what exactly occurred. Most likely, he reached out to former GMs and possibly coaches to get some outside input.

As for Allen 'needing to be out of the building', it really depends on whether Snyder has truly made it clear he'll have zero to do with football decision-making. I think fans mistake the problem - and that is Snyder using a supposed 'GM' as a surrogate to make sure what Dan Snyder wants to happen, happens. It won't matter who the surrogate is - be it Allen or the next one. If Snyder himself hasn't learned (color me beyond skeptical) that he's not qualified to decide who we should draft at QB, it won't matter who is 'in the building'. Snyder needs to physically remove himself from Redskins Park and give a new GM full and unfettered control. That would be a good first step in demonstrating things are going to change. I won't hold my breath. At this point, I think Snyder is genetically incapable of getting his stupid, grubby, rich guy fingers off the team. He thinks he's smarter than everyone else and that will never change.

I think you need someone that brings order and stability and some experience dealing with the Josh Normans of the world.

Callahan began that process by demanding roster control and moving to sit guys that were underperforming but were favorites of Gruden.

That process needs to continue under the new coach.

It's really hard to tell, and I don't have ANY contacts with the team anymore. And God knows the NFL has let other teams suck for years on end, but my gut tells me that if the NFL didn't step in, they mutually agreed with Lord Farquaad to "help". After all, this is absolutely the worst run football operation in the NFL, and has been for years.

Callahan has shown promise in that area, and he has stopped the bleeding. They still lose, but at least they are competitive and act like they give a shit. Couldn't say that under Gruden. Now, whether or not he can start winning and change the "damn good" culture....................who knows? He probably won't ever get the chance

I think this would be a fantastic plan as the offense continues to gel, Bruce is shown the GM door, Schaffer`s rewarded for his loyalty, Manusky`s gone and were back to a real coach in a 4-3 defense. Yes please!

Edit: I`m considering a Callahan ran offseason with Haskins getting true #1 reps for the duration. A MUCH tougher mindset from the get go but this time on both sides of the ball.

Edit: I`m considering a Callahan ran offseason with Haskins getting true #1 reps for the duration. A MUCH tougher mindset from the get go but this time on both sides of the ball.

I could live with that, at least to get things further stabilized. But we need to relieve DS of the head scouting duties and we need to get the training staff straightened out as well

It could have something to do with the fact that he's a mediocre coach at best, having only 3 winning seasons in 9 years as the HC in Carolina?

Rivera is nt gonna be a DC. He's being looked at by several teams, according to press, as an HC candidate. He's even linked as a possibility in Dal-ass.
