Trent Williams’ return certainly mattered. It’s not as if he played flawless, but the reason he’s at left tackle was evident on Thompson’s touchdown run (as well as another sweep earlier in the game) when Williams pulled and forced the defensive back to backpedal out of the play before getting decked. Here’s what corner Josh Norman says about being at corner and seeing Williams pull: “I remember playing them when I was in Carolina, and he pulled on one of those plays and we got into it. He took me out and I said, 'Look here big fella, you come around here and do something like that again, I’ll take your knees from you.’ He was like, 'Well, come on then.’ Ever since then, we had a beef. Then I got here, and I saw it’s a thing of beauty, and I told him that. It’s a work of art to see that happening. Ain’t nobody getting in the way of that. I’d love to be a running back behind that. It’s cool.” And Williams said, “They don’t like to see me coming out there, but I don’t blame them. It’s my job to make their life hard.”
