Random Commanders Thoughts

When I checked the scores, I thought there must have been a typo, but obviously the scores were correct. I went to bed just before half time (at 4:45AM) as I got fed up with them scoring TD's and all we were doing was f**king around kicking FG's.

That was one of the most entertaining games since Tampa. And that's regardless of which team won.

5 or 6 lead changes in the second half?

Exhilarating. Awesome. And a ton of heart.

It was so much fun because, despite seeing our guys clearly scrapping and fighting (their guts out) on every down, it was difficult to sustain hope - knowing how infrequently we've won these types of games over the years, particularly in that stadium. And yet, they did it, despite the injuries and despite adversity. That was a big win to say the least.

I have to say, I was pretty impressed with Trent's switch to guard and holding his own while never taking a snap at the position... not even once in practice. If I were Gruden, I'd be starting the line we finished with. It was far from perfect, and perfectly fine too. Maybe Gruden was worried about pass pro with Trent at guard causing them to call more runs, but it helped the running game, and pass pro didn't suffer to any great extent. He shocked the hell out of I'd say dame near everybody on the planet with the fake punt, and my hats off to him on that one. Fun game to watch no doubt, and a good sign that the team is on board and willing to fight till the last whistle. Cravens needs to be on the field as often as possible, as it looks like he could be a difference maker as he develops. Kirk played better then the first two outings, but is still not seeing the field well. I really expected to have our asses handed to us, and thrilled we were able to come away with a tough road win. Long way to go, but it was a step in the right direction.

Now if you excuse me, I have a tub of ice water to soak my pounding head in. Should know better then to start drinking at 11:00 am, and finish at 11:00 PM.

Great win - and way to shut up the Giants! BWahahaha, OBJ pouting, crying, acting like a baby and ultimately getting punked by the kicking net was priceless!

Kudos to Dunbar for not letting the special teams gaffe fluster him, and coming back to make the huge fake punt catch and that 1-handed INT.

Did Keenan Robinson do anything after running his mouth? Oh that's right, he got washed out by Trent!

Do you try drinking large amounts of water, immediately after you finish drinking, to prevent hangovers ?

Normally I would, but with bad reflux to begin with, my liquid capacity was at it's max LOL

As far as next week goes, here are the opening betting lines:

Washington favored by 10 points over Cleveland.
Minnesota favored by 4 points over the Giants.
Philly has a bye.
Dallas plays at San Fran. There is no line yet.

Cleveland without Rg3 should be scary. They almost beat the dolphins.

Too bad we didn't get them week 1

I don't think that's accurate at all Brian. It was a back and forth game all day. That describes the first half for sure. But the 2nd half it was the Redskins that kept coming back and making plays when they had to. The Giants were the undisciplined team today and the good guys just wanted it more. Cousins played a solid game and the one drive where we ran at them continually was nice to see. I don't think today fundamentally changes anything, but it was a must win, and we rose to the occasion in New York where we almost never do.

I am not trying to minimize the win, I am happy we won...I just look at 5 FG's and think if 2 of them are TD's this game would not have been as close, that's why I was asking.

Oh this is great. One of the funniest things I've seen in months. NSFW.

I saw China's post about pot calling kettle black on this one...and while I haven't gotten this worked up over a game in years, I do not miss the elevated heart beat over the past couple of weeks since I have chosen not to take the effort to watch games since I'm no longer in the DC market.

OK, that was a horrible decision for background music.

Should note that it could have been six FG's, that fubar at the end of the first half was just...........

Wasn't it against the Giants last year he did the same thing?

So for the 2nd week in a row, I decided not to watch football, instead spend time with my son...we went to a baseball game instead. I gotta tell you,. it has been a couple a good weeks.

I did watch the NFL 4 minute replay of the game...from what I can tell we could have beaten the Gianst by at least 2 TD's, instead we just score FG's instead of TD's.

Am I accurate?

It was a weird game with plenty of bad and good. The first half was very frustrating to watch. Dline struggled again and the defense could not get off the field on third down, again. I also though the coaching staff made some real strange play calls in the red zone and in third and short situations. Second half was much more encouraging as the Skins continued to play hard and overcome adversity, but even then I was absolutely convinced we were going to lose until the final interception to win the game.

Overall it felt to me like the Giants were the stronger team, but that they just screwed up a few more times than we did. Eli's pic at the end of the game was just terrible. I like the Skins' heart though, and I think that they could get much stronger as the season goes on if Cousins can get back in form and the defense can figure something out to compensate for their lack of talent on the dline.

Does anybody think that Deangelo Hall played his last nfl game?

I think that's likely.

Take the points, we'll make Terrell Pryor look like a quarterback again. :behead:
