Random Commanders Thoughts

# of days left,
til we strap on the pads,
to protect our nads....

Unfortunately in the UHD 4K era, those jerks stopped wearing that type of protection.

Possible nicknames for our rookies.

Josh (the dr) Doctson
Su'anami Cravens
Kendall (the croc) Fuller
Matt (Leonidas) Ioannidas
Nate (the future) Sudfeld
Steven (headhunter) Daniels
Keith (the bullet) Marshall

Very bland first run and will be changed accordingly once there's tape on them.

The Giants were 9-7 and won the Super Bowl in a weak NFC East.

Somehow the pundits forget that in noting that the Redskins 'only' went 9-7 and won the East in a down year so 2016 is a crap-shoot.

2016 really shouldn't be a crapshoot.

In my mind, the Dallas Cowboys will be able to score points, winning many games based on their ability to put up 35 while their defense gives up 28-30. Their defense is limited by all of the suspensions and the disappointing play from high picks such as Morris Claiborne.

The Giants are another team that can score points IF they keep Eli Manning upright. Their offensive line is the weakest in the division and their defensive backfield even with a severely overpaid Janoris Jenkins added to the mix is a patched quilt at best.

The Eagles are destined to be in the cellar for a number of reasons. One, they don't really have any offensive playmakers. Chip Kelly got rid of all of them. None of their outside receivers scare anyone. Who is their prime back?

Their coach is a first year guy looking to transition in the NFL. That's going to take some time.

On defense, the Eagles have some names in the secondary, but those players were better 2-3 years ago on other teams. Rodgers-Cromartie is no longer an elite defender although he is being paid like one.

The Redskins have every chance to compete for and win the division.

As Pro Football Focus said last week in an article on the NFC East, the Redskins don't have elite players at a lot of positions but compared to the other teams in the division they have less clear weaknesses and better depth at certain key spots due to McCloughan changing over the roster.

For those interested in adding another NT.

Interesting read here:
The best formula for building a sustained winner in the NFL is still to get as many good, cheap rookie contracts as possible while also adding some slightly more expensive veterans without destroying the salary cap. The 2013 Seahawks perfected this blend, as have the Patriots throughout their 15-year run. The successful track record of the cheap-contract-collection philosophy made big second contracts as unfashionable in the NFL as zubaz pants and, when paired with the 2011 CBA, fostered the current climate, in which every stubborn decision-maker in every front office has been conditioned to overthink every deal — even when spending whatever’s necessary to lock up a superstar should be the obvious move.
