I gotta point out that the NBA players assaciation negotiated a no test for marijuana clause in the players agreement.

The thing that stands out to me about this is not that Cousins is The Man, or that McLovin knows his stuff.

It's that our GM needed to spend five ****ing hours making a case to Snyder about a personnel decision. Still.

That is bad, bad news.

Well, besides being based on, "what I heard, from what he heard, about what they supposedly said"...it's pure speculation that the supposed conversation, supposedly between just the two of them, supposedly lasting 5 hours, supposedly consisted of one subject. I suppose this, Cole, received his story, written on stone tablets, and handed to him by Moses himself.

And, in the end, WTF does it really matter? The choice, currently, looks like the right one.

I'm curious, does Jason Hatcher retiring now get us any of our salary cap money back?

I read we don't due to when he was released. Had he retired beforehand we would have gotten some money back.

After the Redskins lost to the Packers in the first round of the playoffs in January, Hatcher said that he was unsure about returning to football. He and the organization reportedly negotiated to reduce his 2016 salary but they couldn’t agree and the Redskins released him on March 7.

Cutting Hatcher cost the team $4.5 million in dead salary cap. Had he retired prior to being released the Redskins could have recovered some of that money. But as soon as they cut him the $4.5 million went on the books and it can’t be taken off.

Could also think of it as a big time learning experience for Snyder to be in the room that long with a real 'football guy'.

I also suspect that they talked about a few other things during that time but the writer chose the topic that would get the most attention, it worked.

Some reporter reporting it doesn't make it so - at least when it comes to the details or characterizing the nature of the interaction . Saying he 'stood on the table' (yeah, I know he meant it figuratively) - exactly how would he know it was that kind of conversation? That to me sounds like extrapolation - they met, everyone knows RG3 is Dan's guy, therefore McCloughan must have had to pound his fists on the table to get Snyder to listen.

They could have talked 30 minutes, Snyder gave a thumbs up, and spent the rest of the time smoking cigars and drinking.

Honestly - look what we gave up for Griffin. I don't think there is an NFL owner anywhere who wouldn't be consulted before turning the corner on an acquisition like that, and I don't think there's anything ominous or necessarily inappropriate about a discussion either.

I see it as good news actually. McCloughan stood up to, and didn't give in till Snyder caved in. That's unrepresented throughout the time Snyder has owned the team, and looks like a turning point to me.
 
I understand that report is entirely speculative. I was commenting on it's implications as it was presented.

If it's all BS, none of it means anything anyway.

I wasn't really directing that at you H. Just pointing to the obvious - that the press takes a truth, and frequently 'interprets' from it - with their interpretation often implied as equally true when, in fact, it's entirely speculation.

Reports like this are almost never 'entirely speculation'. But I don't think it's a stretch to call it 'mostly speculation' :)

Not many centers go in the 1st round, the Pouncey boys come to mind. If he's sitting there, we have to take him. We are rebuilding and a DT is a top priority, but a Center like him dropping into our laps is a gift, we should take it. Our OL could end up being great for a few years.

If there are as many DT's in the draft as has been suggested, we should be able to pick one up in the 2nd round.
