Random Commanders Thoughts

The best we can do is Boone, Om and others floating around.

WTF !

I'm thinkin Redskins Cheerleaders in skimpy swim suits circumnavigating the stadium on personal watercraft early in the season, and maybe cheerleaders on ice once it gets cold.

Oh, as for actually football stuff, I understand the signing, but don't like the blackmon signing. I think we jumped the gun with a 2 year deal before we see who may come available in the near future.

Looking at the stadium picture again, those little 'bowls', amphitheater looking things might actually be other various stadium concepts, just in smaller scale.
One in particular appears to be setup for baseball.

They're supposed to be "tailgating areas". That and the moat are obviously things that would be tweaked in the design. It kind of seems like a lot of folks think this is the final design when I'm sure it's just the first of many versions.

I thought Blackmon was adequate last year. Flashed at times.

He and Dunbar were pleasant surprises.

It's not that he did badly, he did a dam good job but he ain't getting any younger at 31. Even in his early career, he never impressed me to the point where I'd say... ya, I'd take him.

He's solid depth in my eyes, and to me, a two year contract for a corner on the down side of it all this early in the off season is a sign we're depending on him for more then depth. There's going to be cuts, the draft, and all the undrafted kids, so what's the rush to sign him ?

He is mainly here for depth and insurance for culliver. And signing someone else is no quarentee he works in the system

Do we really need two seasons of insurance ? Weather it be for Culiver or Duke being Wil can play some safety too, I'd be good with a one year deal. Two years tells me we'll be looking for him to contribute. I know we can't fix everything at once, but I much rather take some lumps developing a long term answer at corner then depending on the over the hill gang for a few seasons.

We do still have a draft day coming up, we have a youngin' who's already starting, we don't know yet what Dunbar is going to be with a full off season program as a CB.

The young ones are just starting to get into the pipe and we still need to field a team.

Doesn't hurt to have some experience and backup to show the way even if it's not prime time stuff.
This is also part of taking those lumps.

"Can't have too many pass rushers, can't have too many cornerbacks either."

Blackmon can play safety as well so the team is paying for versatility as well as veteran leadership.

With Jarrett conceivably out for the season, Goldson released, and Culliver coming off the ACL it only makes sense to provide insurance.

Even if the team takes a corner or safety in Round 2 of the draft it is likely going to be an adjustment period in Year 1.

There aren't too many corners that come into the league and look like they belong from Day 1.

Looks like we are sticking to backups and special teamers/ guys that could compete for starting spots

Another look at the stadium concept, I see some color changes going on ;)
Not as goofy looking at ground level.
The dot com has several other views including ice skating on the moat

The Redskins have filed a proposal to eliminate overtime periods in preseason games, to be brought up at next week's annual meeting.
Also to be decided, is the automatic ejection of players with 2 personal fouls in a game, and a proposal to change the spot of the snap after a touchback resulting from a free kick to the 25-yard line.

Teams have a hard enough time in frequent games, where certain positions get depleted due to repeated injuries at that spot. Now imagine bad luck having it, that you not only lose multiple players at a position to injury during a game, but also potentially another player(s) at that person ejected for 2 personal fouls. They better increase the amount of active players allowed for game-day, or this will be a disaster.

I'm not a big fan of the ejection for two personal fouls. It's one thing when a guy attempts to injure another player like Burfict did in the playoffs. It's another thing when a DB makes a great play on the ball, but the ref throws a flag because he thinks the player hit the receiver in the head. When in reality, it was shoulder to chest. Two bad calls and now a player is ejected.
