Random Commanders Thoughts

I have to vehemently disagree with this post.

Our run game was terrible. And it was absolutely supposed to be our bread and butter going into the season. And it was terrible. We were 14th in rushing attempts and 20th in pass attempts. That's a team that wants to run the ball. We were 30th in yards per attempt. That's a team that can't run the ball.

We got away with it because we played a soft schedule and Cousins played out of his mind the second half of the season. But we will not consistently get away with having a running game like that. It needs to be a LOT better.

And no, I do not trust that Gruden knows what he's doing. And Callahan may be an awesome OL coach, but as play-caller I'm not loving him. I hope they figure something out this offseason, because we won't get away with another half-assed effort like they put into the run game last year.

Thanks Henry!

Galette is smiling right now......maybe not so great for us.

Olivier Vernon gets $85M over 5 years — WOW — with $52.5M in guarantees.

Some perspective......and the Giants just got taken.

J.J. Watt guaranteed $$: $51.8

Oliver Vernon: $52.5

Texans: Are you sure you deserve this much money, you've only started 7 games
Brock Osweiler: Yeah but Houston
Texans: Say no more

Olivier Vernon over the last two years: 14 sacks

Junior Galette over his last two years in NO: 22 sacks

After Olivier Vernon's deal, I'm thinking that 1 year, $1 million deal we gave Galette is now off the table.

1 year $5 million?

What does everyone think? What's a fair price?

Coming off a substantial injury, not having played a down in an actual game in over a year, I'd offer 1 mill with performance based escalators. If he can do better elsewhere..... so be it.

I know the Redskins were not planning on making a huge overall splash in free agency, but it would have been nice seeing a free safety with Tashaun Gipson's athleticism signed for 2016 and beyond. This is the type of player we have looked at but never have pulled the trigger on at a position that has been a sore spot on the defense for years.

5 years for $35.5 million isn't that bad of a deal to get a 25 year old player who has already made the pro bowl during his career.

I don't think if we put a competitive offer on the table that Gipson would have chosen to go to Jacksonville, where careers go to die.

So did Cooley wake up and decide to be a dick today or is he always like that?

Ricky Jean went on and spoke his mind letting Cooley have it suggesting he was doing it for ratings, Cooley took the tongue lashing and explained his side of things. Many are admonishing Cooley...I could care less if he bad mouths anyone who is no longer a part of this team.

Finally got around to listening to the Cooley Ricky show, the biggest take I agreed to...... move on. No reason for the local media to keep on making a big deal out of Griff's situation.

Cooley did a ton of back-stepping in his conversation with RJF. You know how I can tell? Because he kept insisting he wasn't... ;)

It was a whole bunch of "No what I meant was... " and "If I'm on the radio and not face-to-face, I'm not talking about your behind your back."

What a useless ****.

Am I the only one who is excited and happy with the silence? In years past, I remember having the first day of FA practically circled on my calendar - hell, I remember the year we signed Archuletta and that crop of FAs I was pissed because I had a family committment that took me away from being able to hear about who we signed and all that.

This year? Until I read McD's post yesterday that said we were 45 minutes (or whatever) from the start of FA, I honestly wouldn't have known for sure.

McL nailed the draft last year. A few more years like that and we will be in good shape. Then we can get one or two targeted FAs who would fill a specific need nicely. Right now, we just need good football players - lots of them, and cheap ones. Hello, draft!

Maybe. It's also possible that an equivalent offer from the Skins was on the table and he and/or his family didn't want to live in DC.

No Goal - you aren't the only one. Amen. It's also worthy of not that the only Redskins drama going on is centered around guys who USED to be Redskins, not guys currently in B&G.

I'm with you too. I'm so glad they aren't over spending for every name available. I actually looked over the list just to make sure the Redskins didn't do anything foolish. They may still sign someone and it may be for more money than they should, because that's what the market dictates. But it's good to see they aren't the first ones out of the gate signing all the big names to big money.
