My other half is writing her game preview on her Packers blog site. She asked me to chip in from a Redskin fan perspective.

The upshot from my point of view was that we're optimistic but that 25years of crap has taught us to wait and see. We're always waiting for that other shoe to drop.

Packers fans have had many years of success lately and hence they expect success. So for them the next victory is the next game and regardless of how poorly they've played they are confident Rodgers and co will prevail.

I'm not sure how many years of success it will take to get me to that point with the Skins. Been burnt so many times in the last quarter of a Century.

I think we've turned the corner. I hope we've turned the corner. I'm optimistic.

But I'm not ready to believe just yet. That kind of trust needs time to build.

Maybe by 2020 after a couple of superbowls....

They may *say* they expect success - but I am betting you there are a lot of nervous, unsure Packer's fans waiting for Sunday with more than a little trepidation.

It will be a house divided tomorrow. Lol

She also does a live Twitter chat on Weds nights from 10pm UK time. I was reading through the twitters and there's a fair bit of confidence and also trepidation.

I think the difference is the even when we're good (like now!) we're kind of waiting for the bubble to burst. We've kinda been conditioned to think like that. There's always a let down just around the corner.

(At least that's how I feel lol)

The Packers fans know that they're not a great team right now and are expecting a loss. But they also believe that this is just a fixable temporary glitch to normal service.

Of course she is lying low this week, given the backup qb situation in Dallas right now.

This game?

To me it all comes down to stopping the Packers running game.

With the offensive line suffering significant injury issues and no real deep threat to scare a defense, Green Bay IMO is going to go back to a lower-risk strategy of running Eddie Lacey between the tackles and using James Starks as a receiver out of the backfield.

While the Redskins have faced a lot of teams trying to throw over the top on them the past 4-6 weeks with the secondary in flux, it has partially covered up the issues we have had with the run game going back to mid-season.

McCarthy and Co. won't miss that and will use that to try and afford Rodgers some time to make those 3-4 downfield plays off script that can turn into points.

The key is really in our front seven.

If we can do a credible job on first and second down against the run and cover Starks and Cobb on the short and intermediate routes in the passing game, we should win this game by 10-14 points.

If not, it could be a long day and a 35-31 type shootout with the outcome held in the balance for the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game.

With Aaron Rodgers in the mix, it's likely to come down to the last 3 or 4 seconds, rather than minutes.

The difference between this Packers team and ones in the past is that they simply don't have a receiving threat that scares defenses and their OL which has never been outstanding has gone from 'solid' but unspectacular to below average in pass protection.

James Jones was picked up again after he was waived during the preseason cuts in Oakland (?).

Randall Cobb has talent but he has been playing all season with a knee that is going to need off-season surgery and looks like he has lost a step in the meantime.

Meantime no one is going to confuse Bryan Bulaga or David Bakhtiari with Trent Williams.

Chris Cooley made an interesting comment on Friday's drive time show in sizing up the Redskins/Packers line matchups.

He said he was far more concerned about the inside battle between Mike Daniels, whom he said was one of the best DTs in the NFL, than about the matchup with Julius Peppers on the outside, despite Pepper's 10.5 sacks this season at age 35.

You have to sit Matt Jones.

His ball security issues during the season and tendency to blow assignments in pass protection are deadly come playoff time.

Besides, the three-headed monster of Alfred Morris running between the tackles, Pierre Thomas handling third down draws and short zone pass receiving and flanking Chris Thompson out wide to take advantage of his speed seems to be working well.

Why change a winning formula?
