Random Commanders Thoughts

"After tonight's game, it's clear that Jalen Ramsey is a dream for any NFL team. In our eyes, he's the next Sean Taylor. At worst, he's the second best college CB in the country. He's easily the best safety in the draft."

--Fox Sports.

I agree, but they're pretty damned good in pass pro...why so good in pass pro and not run game?

Can't figure that one out either, most times the run game would come out first then decent pass pro.
Think we'll be in pretty good shape once both get going, hope it's today... :)

edit... maybe the 'new run scheme' has something to do with it, first year and all, pass pro is in second year or we can start blaming the RBs again.

And we have this fuel for the fire from a guy who was a fairly solid coach...

"He's a touchdown-for-interception guy, that's the definition of a backup," Billick said. "You need to make a quarterback that can make plays outside of the design of the offense .. Kirk Cousins is just a good solid guy and unfortunately for Washington, they're going to need a lot more."

Not a big fan of Billick, but he was able to win a superbowl with a killer D, and Trent Dilfer at QB, so he does have a good feel for the situation looking at what he had when he took over in Bmore.

I think it's still a little premature to make that call. Kirk has been improving and we don't have enough talent on the team to isolate his play and evaluate whether or not he's "the guy".

I will say this, though. I hope Kirk reads that and comes out with a huge chip on his shoulder today. The Giants (and Amukamara) have had his number - it would be a huge statement to come out in a game that means so much and beat the Giants at home.

And Billick has also said these things about QBs in the past:

"Scott Mitchell is my QB"
"Stoney Case is my QB"
"Eric Zier is my QB"

And he used a mid first round pick to draft Kyle Boller. Questions anyone?

Yes, agree. I'm not sure you can overstate the importance of this game for Kirk and Gruden, both. If the team comes out flat the way we did the last Giants game, I'm not sure how we can recover from that. If we come out fired up and play hard, but ultimately lose, I think we can build on that. Obviously, if we play well and win, we control our own destiny. If a meaningful game in late November isn't enough to get everyone playing at their best, I don't know what is.

I agree we should look critically and who the speaker is, but the TD/INT rate is troublesome. Doesn't mean Kirk can't overcome it, or learn from it and adapt, but as we saw last week, Kirk has a tendency to throw boneheaded INTs. It's concerning.

did Billick win a SB? I forgot.

does this also make Ozzie Newsome a loser?

billick's point is that Kirk is a system guy who is not good at improvising when plays break down. the deeper thought is that kirk is not the type of QB who can carry a team....and never will be. the arguments will go back and forth on talent versus supporting cast - as they always do. we'll find out over the course of time.

Goaldeje, if they come out flat in this game - that's all on the coaches and the team will need to seriously rethink whether or not Gruden should stay or go.

We lost our cat yesterday so this weekend has sucked and there is a general feeling of sadness pervading the house.

To the Redskins if they are listening....

I honestly can't afford you to have a bad game today. I'm fed up enough as it is without you losing to the Giants.
Sort it out fellas!

Yours sincerely

Knighty and wifey.

Knighty,

Plaster the neighborhood with flyers. We had a cat disappear for 3 weeks. Somebody was feeding her, and without the flyers we'd never have gotten her back.

A good friend just had her cat return home after 6 weeks lost.

As for the Billick comments, fansince has this all wrong (Billick that is). It's a testament to Ozzie that he was able to surround a poor coach with enough talent they could still win the Super Bowl. There is a reason Billick has not been hired, again.

As for his assertions on Kirk...well, fansince and others have made up their minds based on the body of evidence provided. Then there are those of us who understand he's what we have for now, the best we have so we hope he can grow as a QB with more playing time. We'll have a pretty good sense over the course of the next 5 games where we're headed...a total collapse is what we've seen the last few year. Maybe, just maybe we're primed to have a run like we've seen from this team 3 times over the past 10 years where we run the table. I don't think we have the leadership on this team to do so, but we'll see if someone steps up.

No. And it doesn't make Barry Switzer a winner. I'm not entirely discounting the comments - but let's not pretend Billick is some savant. He's made some of the stupidest comments and predictions of any talking sports head out there.

Missing 2 starters on O-line, Giants changing starters at 3 positions: Geoff Schwartz from RG to LG, John Jerry to RG, Dallas Reynolds to C.

The #Redskins struggles vs run have been mostly poor LB play and misused tackles by the secondary

Confirms the need to take a top ILB with a pick in the first 3 rounds of the draft next year.

Yeah, agree. I want to see a palpable sense of desperation today.

As Henry said, **** the Giants. I hate those ****ers. I want them to lose so very badly. The fact that I hate them, AND this game actually means something is awesome. Subjectively, I want Gruden to have the team fired up because I want to beat the Giants so badly. Objectively, we NEED this game.

By lost I mean he was put to sleep. :(

He had diabetes and then went Ketonic. He was in the animal hospital and they discovered pancreatitis and also Lymphoma. They said an intervention was kindest as he wouldn't have lasted the night.

So we're a heartbroken house today. Need a win tonight.
