There are only 3 or 4 receivers in the league I would pay that kind of money to and these guys are not in their class.

Andre Roberts is also get to make $5 million next season (!).

I'm pretty sure he's gone after this year, as his cap hit is only $2 million if we cut him (not insignificant, but not $5 million.)

I think just for cap reasons we'll need to keep at least one of the other two. Garcon has been more productive, but Jackson is much more cap friendly if he's stays on the roster vs his cap hit if he's cut.

Also, I don't know that jettisoning three of our WRs in favor of Grant, Crowder and ??? is necessarily a great plan.

It is if we draft the right replacements, starting with what is likely to be a top 10 pick in the 2016 draft.

Personally, I would restructure Garcon and jettison Jackson.

Garcon is an every down player that has shown himself to be fairly durable. He is also a good example in terms of work ethic as well as being an asset in the run game as a blocker on the edge.

Jackson is none of these things. He is a niche player who would be great playing on the other side of Dez Bryant or Julio Jones.

But Jackson is not a 'bread and butter' guy that is going to move the chains consistently and be anything but a liability in the run game at 5'8 and 175 pounds.

#Redskins had nobody miss practice. Goldson, Culliver, Hatcher, Roberts and Hall limited. Breeland, Knighton were full.

Jeffcoat balked at wanting to play on special teams and the team had enough of that attitude.

Take this for what it's worth. Our GM has his work cut out for him in the offseason, but if the previous offseason is an indication of how he will fare, then we'll be fine in the long run.

Thinking that a QB will not be taken in the earlier rounds. Change in philosophy for that BBQ dude.

Not sure why you mentioned Kap...McCloughan was in Seattle when Kap was drafted in San Fran. Are you suggesting that Seattle was going to draft Dalton? Because they could have taken Dalton just 10 slots ahead of where he was taken...probably could have traded down and still got him. And/or are you saying the OC of the Bengals was the decision maker during the 2011 draft in Cincinnati?

McLovin wanted Dalton. Jay wanted Dalton. Maybe that's another example of how the two share some of the same philosophies, or why Scot may respect Jay's judgement.

Jay caught a lot of heat taking Dalton for the first few years.

That's true to a point, but I do believe this shows a few things that will transfer wherever he goes:

1. Gruden drafted some great offensive players at Cincy. He went against a dominating owner and took Dalton over Kap. In addition to drafting Andy Dalton, he also drafted Tyler Eifert. Some Cincy fans were pissed because Jay took him in the first round. Tyler Eifert now leads the entire league in receiving TDs this season. More TDs than Gronk. And not just TEs, all WRs too. Reed and Carrier should benefit. He also drafted Bernard. So he definitely knows what talent looks like.

2. He's a football guy. He's worn a lot of different hats not only in Cincy, but in Arena football too. I imagine most heard his brother say that in Arena football, "Jay was not only the HC, but was also the GM of his teams, marketing director and even sold the tickets." He's no moron.

3. When he arrived in Cincy, there were a lot of similarities to DC. Cincy had no GM. They also had a bad owner who liked to make player decisions. Cincy, like Washington, was also extremely cheap with their scouting department. Cincy is notorious for having a scouting department consisting of only 4-6 scouts. For reference, New England currently has 19. They were a mess when he came on.

Maybe he only turns out to be a good OC? Hopefully he turns out to be a very good HC too. I'd take his draft picks over Bruce or Vinny though. The guy knows football.

I don't have any issue with giving him props for some of Cincy's success, but as others will point out it means nothing unless he can do it here on a larger scale.

That's true, but I bet many of our fans had no idea that he was drafting the Daltons and Eiferts.

If nothing else, it should breed some confidence when he picks Cousins to be the QB instead of RG3. He's overruled a bossy owner in the NFL before, and he turned out to be right. He also avoided a lot of other QB busts in that draft, preferring Dalton over them.
