Random Commanders Thoughts

Until Gruden decides to send Ross deep to keep opposing defenses honest, our run game is going to suffer. They are loading up the box daring Cousins and Gruden's playcalling to beat them.

Not a single receiver on our current roster is getting open past 10 yards...not even Garcon. They just aren't getting separation.

I wouldn't want to go in with a losing record

Might be time to demote Riley in favor of Compton.

Compton doesn't have the speed to cover. I like him, Riley is certainly on not the player he was, but I'm not sure Compton is fast enough.

I keep hearing it's an athlete thing vs a football player thing, Compton being more the football guy.

From what I have seen of Compton, he has a nose for the football and gets there in the run. He just always seems a half step behind when asked to cover.

On a side note: I am so tired of our current defensive scheme. It seems like teams make a switch to a 3-4 and some have immediate success while others have success after a couple years of plugging in the right players. It appears we are moving toward a better defense, but I have to wonder if that is merely addition by subtraction. And yes, we do have our first true NT, but I heard on the radio today he is barely playing half the snaps. Am I the only one sick of the 3-4 defense we've seen over the last 5 years here in DC?

Have only been able to see one game (vagiants) but noticing some stats here and there. It would seem Chris Baker is one of the bright spots on D. Not sure if that's due to pot roast or not or even if it's when he's subbing for him @ NT but he's off to a helluva start.

We're beat up and they're coming off a bye. I'm not expecting a blowout. Hell, I'm not expecting a win. If Kirk plays like he did against the Jets, we lose.

This is a pretty big game for Mr Cousins. A lot of people would like to turn the page on him conclusively, and if he stinks up the joint against TB, they will have the ammunition to do so. If he is able to rebound and play a good game and give us some reason for optimism going into our bye, a sliver of hope will remain.

Sadly, my money is on a poor performance. He has been off the last two weeks, and I'm fearing a spiral like we witnessed last season.

Spiral or not, Gruden is giving Cousins a free ride this season.

I think Garcon has lost a step since his heady days of 2012.

Not sure Crowder has the speed.

Ross looks good but apparently Gruden said he only knows Garcon's routes.... Not sure why they can't teach him Jacksons.
In fact didn't I hear reports that Jackson had taken him under his wing so to speak? Or was that Crowder?

Either way, can't Jackson teach them?

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!

I'll be in chat on Sunday come hell or high water!

The Redskins have never had a player with a last name starting with "X."

so...scheme creating open receivers isn't part of the equation?

Game day is good for ya :D
Build them bones boys and girls, drink up that liquid granola.

Drinking beer may be good for building more than just beer bellies. A new study suggests that drinking beer may help build better bones thanks to its high silicon content.

According to the National Institutes of Health, dietary silicon in the soluble form of orthosilicic acid (OSA) may be important for the growth and development of bone and connective tissue and help reduce the risk of the bone-thinning disease osteoporosis.

Based on those findings, some studies have suggested that moderate beer drinking may help fight osteoporosis, but researchers say the silicon content of beer has never been thoroughly evaluated until now. The results show that beer indeed is a significant source of bone-building silicon in OSA form.

The study analyzed 100 commercially available beers for their silicon content and found the average silicon content ranged from 6.4 to 56.5 milligrams per liter (mg/L).

There is no recommended daily intake for silicon. But researchers say based on the average daily intake of 20-50 milligrams, 2 liters of beer, on average, would be required to satisfy that requirement. In some cases, 1 liter of beer may be enough.

Bone-Building Beer?

Beers containing high levels of malted barley and hops are richest in silicon, researcher Charles Bamforth, PhD, DSc, of the department of food science and technology at the University of California, Davis, says in a news release. “Wheat contains less silicon than barley because it is the husk of the barley that is rich in this element. While most of the silicon remains in the husk during brewing, significant quantities of silicon nonetheless are extracted into wort and much of this survives into beer.”

The results showed the India Pale Ale category of beers tends to have more silicon because they are traditionally a stronger and "hoppier" beer containing more silicon-rich malt and hops.

"By contrast, wheat-based beers contain less silicon, which seems to be related to the lower levels of silicon in wheat malt," write the researchers in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture. "Additionally, wheat beers are produced with much less hops than many other beer styles."

Light lager-style beers were also lower in silicon, likely because of their use of corn during the brewing process, note the researchers.

In comparison, other sources of silicon in the diet include granola cereal, high-fiber wheat bran cereal, oatmeal, and dried dates

I will not let osteoporosis ravage my body - I will fight with every ounce of beer in my refrigerator!

Goal is screwed then with his fruity beers =(

Homecoming Week! Make sure to applaud the visitors after the game for showing up and giving it the ol college effort. 70-13 wins are common for these types of games right? Emptying the bench so the parents can see the 3rd stringers play?

3 and 4 heading into the bye!

Desean is out again. Soft ass sissy. I'd rather have a durable slower receiver than this diva.

Geez Mike - he's got a messed up hammy - there's not much the guy can do. You can't 'gut out' a hamstring injury in my experience. It's unfortunate he reinjured it, and we probably need to look to the future at that spot, but I'm sure it's killing him not to be out there.
