He's not wearing bigger helmet like Welker wears. And with the way he gets concussions it should be mandatory for him to.

Kudos today for Hopkins. So nice to have a kicker that can create touchbacks on Special Teams without having to "strip his gears" to do it.

So far, he's everything Forbath was, and then some. That's saying something - Forbath was a pretty damn good kicker (setting aside kickoffs). Looks like a stroke of genius so far.

He's at his best when it's all on the line. I've noted that for awhile now. Smart of the coaching staff to put it on his back (and Cousins) on that last drive.

Lots of praise so far...even lavar had to concede we played well. He said our defense is the identity of the team...I'm not sure how to feel about that.

I like the DL of this defense, but if the DBs are the 'identity of the team', we need to go in the witness protection system.
 
As much crap as Gruden catches... he should get credit for this team not crumbling after blowing a double digit lead. 4 weeks ago we lost in the exact same position to an inferior opponent. The 3rd quarter was ugly, but the team rallied and stood up when it mattered.

In seasons past, today vs. Philly would have been the type of game where we lost a heartbreaker, then spiralled out of control in the next 6 or 7 weeks that followed, only to set up a meaningless December.

Now I'm not saying that this team should start thinking playoff race. Far from it.

What I'm saying is that there seems to be a bit of an identity shift. We even saw a few encouraging signs towards the end of the Giants game as well where we seem to be dead in the water going into the fourth quarter.

This team has fought tooth and nail until the final gun and it falls right in line with what McCloughan has been preaching - that opponents will know and feel on Monday that they played a tough Redskins team.

Now it's time to use today as a bit of a springboard towards building positive momentum.

In theory, this should be one of those games this group looks back on as it grows two or three years from now as one of those experiences to draw on when you are hopefully playing in much more meaningful and important games where things are hanging on the line down the stretch.

It's all about composure. We gathered ourselves nicely today and didn't succumb to the grandness of "the moment" - something that is so difficult for perennial losers and teams with a losing mentality to break out of.
 
Joe Barry is going to really have to amp up the pressure on Matt Ryan for us to even have a chance vs the Falcons.

Just how in the hell are we gonna deal with Julio Jones?

Scary thought.....
 
On a bit of a side note, regardless of what becomes of this season or future seasons, today's win is always going to be held and cherished as a special memory for myself personally. The last successful season we had in Robert's rookie year, my eldest son was not even a full year old. It was difficult enjoying and celebrating the magic of that season with him.

After we beat the Eagles, at now 4 years old, he climbed on my back and I felt the need to blast and sing Hail To The Redskins to him. There haven't been too many special wins in the past few seasons since today.

He's starting to understand the importance of Sunday's now for daddy and was noticeably truly happy about it for probably the first time that I can remember.



Such a cool experience.

It's all about match ups. How many times have we seen it? Road team is supposed to have no chance, and kicks the opponents ass. Anything is possible in the NFL. A year ago, the Falcons were a laughing stock but now all of a sudden they are unbeatable? Me thinks not. You can also almost guarantee they will take a home win against the Skins for granted. That also works in our favor.

This is probably a very minimal part of the answer to your question, but I'd much rather play them while they are riding a high like this, as opposed to being a desperate bunch like the Giants two weeks ago.

The Falcons are feeling good about themselves now, are probably playing a little bit better than they actually are, and are due for a letdown sooner or later...much like the Cardinals did today vs. an inferior Rams team.
 
Their running back is killing it right now, too. That's a bug matchup for our defense.

He definitely did better.

The last drive of the 2nd quarter he reverted to Capt. ThrowEverDown. That was aggravating, and foolish. Glad he didn't panic and do it again on the last drive.

Wasn't thrilled when he just let philly run the clock down before the half. Lucky they missed the FG.
 
We match up very well against Atlanta.

They rely a lot on their running game, and our D line is where running backs go to die:

Demarco Murray: 8 rushes, 36 yards
Ryan Matthews: 5 rushes, 20 yards
Darren Sproles: 4 rushes, 17 yards

No one rushes on us.

If we can take him out of the game, and double cover Julio, I like our chances.
