Random Commanders Thoughts

So, I think we're seeing what Luck would have looked like had he be given our O Line the first couple seasons of his career....

Personally, I never saw anything his rookie season that was good.

He's was Toast for his entire stay here. Another Shamahan draft failure.

I think he had like 40 tackles, 2 pics and x passes defended. By no means pro bowl material but enough to give hope (me anyways) on growing into the position.

After that it was all downhill for the kid and I trust McLuvs 100% on it.

Of course, those stats don't show missed tackles, blown assignments, biting on the double move, etc....

And his most memorable pick, against the Raiders, came when he was beaten badly, and forced to change his route by another player being in his way, only to have the dipshit QB throw it right to him. Looked good, but it was pure luck. I was never impressed.

Onward and upward.

Beat those ****ing vaGiants!!!

We really need to have better 3rd quarters. Not sure what's happening at halftime but teams should come out motivated and rejuvenated, not flat and giving up the ass like a hookers on two for night.

we;ve been coming out at half time with a lead. Unusual position for us, plus the other teams makes adjustments too. I would rather be ahead, but we would see bigger adjustments if we came out playing catch up.

That is fine and all..but not letting off the throttle or giving them a chance to catch up because we dont have any intensity or are flat footed isnt.

What I'm saying is, its part of the learning curve. Baby steps man, baby steps. (I think Gruden just learned Sunday, that with a lead, he can milk it with the running game....stay away from the dam pass).

OK, well what I am saying is that is what I want to see learned. Since there is always room for improvement and all we can learn to improve there :)

When does DJax come back? Looking forward to seeing this offense with him stretching the field.

I think our record will play into it. If we are rolling along pretty good, it will allow for an extra week, or 2, to really have him healed up.

He'll probably WANT to make it back for Philly. Falcons or Jets are more likely.

Look at that beautiful collection of magnificent bastards and bastardettes on the home page! Seriously - if you didn't make it to the BGO Tailgate this year, you missed out on an epic experience. You have a full year to plan on making it for the 2016 version. Make it happen!

And we aren't done this season. The BGO flag will be flying high over Charlotte on November 22nd for the road version of the BGO Tailgate. As always, be there, or be square!

The Redskins draft strategy used to be to look at the final stats on college players and take the guys at the top of each list.

They selected Trent Murphy in large part because he led the nation in sacks with 15. Forget that most talent evaluators said he was going to have a difficult time translating that to the NFL due to his limited explosiveness.

With Amerson, he led the nation in interceptions one year in college.

Allen and Shanahan said they wanted to draft 'playmakers'.

What they ignored was the year AFTER he had those 13 interceptions in college, Amerson had a very poor season at NC State and was burned regularly for TDs.

McCloughan seems to draft guys that were productive in college, of course, but more importantly guys that project to have the size, speed and skill to be NFL players.

I don't know if the rumors that Amerson has a drinking problem are accurate, but it seemed clear the team was treading water on a guy who just seemed to regress.

The fact Will Blackmon, a street free agent, could come in here and beat him out gives one the idea Amerson was in all likelihood the 49th or 50th guy on this roster, as ranked by the team.

He was a guy that was on the bubble to start off with in 2015.

The rollout pass to Benjamin that manzeil hit.....that is Orakpo crashing down and allowing it.

How many times has he been burned on that same freaking play?!!! He never contains and attacks where he should.

I think the Redskins should make or give Callahan the Asst. HC and a nice raise. With what he has done it may be hard to keep him after this season.

I dunno. That's what they did with him in Dallas, and it turned out into a cluster F. Callahan was the OC and the offensive coordinator. He called plays one year. I think he got fed up with that three ring circus. I for one don't want to go in that direction. He's here for the head coaching job imho. The opportunity was there when he said yes to coming on board. For that matter, the opportunity for him is still there, who knows how long Gruden will last?

Andrew Luck with 5 ints in 2 games?

It's year four....the guy has hit his ceiling. Nothing more than a good backup Qb.

The "book" has been written...

:peep:

Yeah, I'm in with this.

You really have to wonder what incentivized him to leave the pukes and come to division rival, especially when he built a decent line there.

The "scuttlebutt" is that he wanted to call the run plays, like he does here. Garrett wants to do all the playcalling.

Nick

Gotta wonder how that division of duties goes down.

Somebody says, "run!" Somebody says, "Pass!" Then they need to agree and somebody makes the call?

Looks like it happens with a bunch of teams.

I actually heard someone on the radio speculating that, but can't remember where. The thought was that Gruden says what kind of play, then McVay calls the pass plays and Callahan calls the run plays. If that's the case, they must be doing something right to not have a delay-of-game penalty every three minutes.
