It's sad how much people want to believe bad stuff....especially about us.

But, seriously, you can now say anything on social media and it will spread. Spread it to the right person and suddenly people think it's legit.

I've been thinking about this. Owners have input. They write the checks. If I was owner you wouldn't be cutting RG without my approval. Sucks, but that's the way it is. RG was a huge investment any owner would have had to approve giving up the picks for and approve writing him off. There is most definitely a bias by many of the media involved to stir the pot in any way they can. Their readership thrives on it. I wonder how many of them will be able to keep a following if this mess ever turns around. We can't even cut him until he clears medical, which is likely to be a couple weeks. Snyder will never stop being a scape goat until we win more than we lose. It will always be his fault. Nothing wrong with that. The buck should stop with him. I'd just like to see this chapter end and become history.

At the same time, how can a head coach be truly held accountable for his job performance and his team's performance, if his hands are tied, and he's prevented from making the type of personnel/player-related decisions, that he should be expected to be able to make ?

ESPN claims that the coaching staff and front-official officials want to move on from Griffin, but that they are “meeting resistance” from owner Daniel Snyder. Three different sources have told PFT that this simply isn’t true. (One source calld it “spaghetti journalism,” with reports being thrown against the wall at a time when a situation that seems to be disintegrating cries out for more and more efforts to advance the story.)

As one source explained it to PFT, everyone in Washington is on the same page regarding the roles and responsibilities. G.M. Scot McCloughan is in charge of the roster, which soon will be at 53, and coach Jay Gruden decides who will play.

If true, sure. But I don't think we've seen any evidence Gruden's hands are tied. I think some see him pushing Griffin as Snyder running the show. If he doesn't really like RGIII, I tend to believe he does it due to evaluation of investment vs opportunity. That's good common corporate sense. Even if you believe it's not the right path, sometimes you have to the extra mile to prove it based on the corporate investment.

well...pure speculation:

- McL wants whoever has the best upside

- Gruden ultimately wants McCoy

- Snyder? who knows. Business people know what a sunk cost is.

I'll let this one play out - not getting sucked in yet again. tired of the whole eff'ing rewind/replay.

I will say this...whether it is purported O-line wanking anonymously to the press about not "liking" Griffin...or FO types playing politics.......these cowards all need to be found out and fired. this is what is samo...samo. I thought that stuff mostly walked out the door with the Shanahans.

Snyder has almost been totally invisible since the end of last season. I can see his having an interest in Griffin...I can't see him forcing a public brawl. but....who the H knows. sure hope there is enough leadership in the locker room that there is minimum disruption/turmoil. that Gruden got the details wrong.....well.......i.e., events went off script. just get it over with. if there were trade talks that means McL has moved on. Griffin is done here. he'll get another chance elsewhere.....just like T-bow and Vick.

I don't buy into the hysteria that Snyder is forcing anything. I do think he plays a part in the decision making progress of cutting a player in whom so much was invested, not that he'll override McCl or Gruden. It's only a sniff of involvement that fuels the media speculation. When Robert is moved on, the story will be it was due to the outcry caused by their reporting on Snyder's meddling. Just win and this all goes away. Heck, just look competent and it goes away.

With a guaranteed contract, the only way Gruden gets his hands tied, is voluntarily.

I know one way to increase trust: actually field a product where it looks like you have the right leadership and management skills. lotta stuff going on vis that team other than just QB.

Some measurable pattern last season where the evidence suggested Gruden was making corrections, however small, that produced beneficial on-field results would have helped. many of us didn't see those observables.

Agreed. I was one that didn't see it, too.

But I've yet to close the book on Gruden, either. He must show improvement, this season, or I'll be on the porch with you and the others, already set on running him out of town, screaming for his removal.

The team’s recent history and more immediate circumstances have created the impression that dysfunction in D.C. has reached full boil. While the franchise is hardly displaying a high degree of competence on a consistent basis, the situation isn’t quite as bad as it’s currently being portrayed.

Multiple sources tell PFT that, contrary to aSunday afternoon report from ESPN, no schism exists between owner Daniel Snyder and the people he has hired to run the football operations regarding the status of quarterback Robert Griffin III.

That discrepancy fueled the latest spike in perceived dysfunction, but it’s not yet gotten to the point where the guy whose primary job is to sign the checks is getting in the way of the people whose primary jobs are to run the football team.

To be fair, and I honestly have no idea what to think with this whole cluster-****, we generally turn our collective noses up at PFT reporting, do we not? I guess three sources is impressive, but if they aren't willing to be named, is it that impressive?

I don't know. I figure we'll see what happens and that will clue us into what's true and what isn't. If Robert is cut or deactivated or whatever, that kind of answers that question. If Scot leaves citing some nebulous reason, I may throw things and scream. At this point, we have conflicting reports so who the hell knows what is going on for real?

To me, honestly, Tr1's scenario above kinda makes the most sense.
