Random Commanders Thoughts

Redskins and OT Trent Williams have agreed on a 5-year, $66M extension, per agent Vincent Taylor of Elite Loyalty Sports. Wow.

Finally some good news. I don't know if the contract makes sense or doesn't, but this team needs Williams. I'm glad he is staying for a while.

I think it's too much but I can't argue or bitch too loud.

Is morris available to be signed now or do we have to wait until the end of the season?

He deserves a new contract as well.

I've never seen him as an elite player and that's elite player money. But hey, it's not like we don't have bigger things to worry about than Trent's contract :)

Ok, I just walked in from work, and there was just a news break on NBC which mentioned Trents contract..... the part that got me was they also said that Cousins gets the start tonight, and is the starter against Miami for the season opener.

Anybody else hear this anywhere?

EDIT
ESPN is reporting it..... now. When the hell did this happen ?

You're kidding Pete - right?

Wow..cousins is the week 1 starter now, too?

John, this is something I would not joke about. NBC said it, and I just posted the link for the video....

No Pete - what I meant was, this is all anyone has been talking about for about 12 hours :) You're probably the only sane Redskins fan in America today.

Sane LOL I've been involved in the discussion about Cousins starting tonight. I didn't realize Cousins was named the Starter for week 1 against Miami.... Don't know if I'm sane, but I must be blind to have missed that announcement.

Sounds like it's an insider leak...I think they'll justify it later today if it's true based on having to start the guy who's gotten the work in the last two pre-season games. I don't think it's very surprising. The only chance they were going with Griffin was if he played tonight and looked very solid imho.

We draft a WR who obviously sucks.

Skins fans: "It takes three years for a WR to truly develop."

We sign a HC to step into total turmoil. The worst ST in the history of the NFL. Assistant coaches leftover from Shanahan who absolutely suck. The 31st or 32nd best QB in the league. A joke of a defense, and Bruce Allen and Dan.

After only one year? "Oh he sucks. He's awful."

That is truly bizarro world. Total craziness.

Where is the consistency in that?

This doesn't even warrant a response. But I am a sucker, so I will respond with this, Vegas has spoken:

NFL: Who Will Be The First Head Coach to Be Fired in 2015?

I'd bet that Gruden will never be a head coach in the NFL again after he's fired.

I'm not sure that's official yet.

Dianna said that's the plan, but I haven't seen anything from the team confirming it.

It may well be *official* - but no, it's not been announced.

Since SIlverback is so athletic...320 lbs.+ and a 4.8 in the 40 yard dash...the ultimate RB experiment?

If Griffin had laid an egg tonight, no way he started game 1. Now, with no evidence he's made any in game progress there's no way he can start. No one can make an argument that he gives us the best chance to win, and the upside argument is out the window. It's a chance that can't be taken now given what's at stake with his extension. He's taken his last snap. They need to cut him before regular season starts and remove the media circus that surrounds his every breath.

Just heard on the pregame broadcast that he was going to be OK to play, didn't say where.
Assume some WR when the second teams come in, don't know about returns.
