Griffin is back and in full practice 11 on 11 and most likely starting

The problem with pulling the trigger is exactly what El says it is- if you miss it sets your franchise back for years to come.

The good news is, we'll know in the next 3 months what the final verdict is and can move forward one way or another.

well...by that logic...the 4 traded first round picks (and you know there wld be other lower picks) can equate to 40-50 years of starters at other positions. trade more picks you're trading off even more years. what's the preference function here?

What ended Cooley's NFL career was a bum knee that came as a result of consecutive surgeries that cost him speed.

A couple of years of 'rest' is not likely to improve his speed and explosiveness off the ball.

It almost seems like it's toxic for a Redskin to become a local DC media personality after retiring.
Cooley, B-Mitch, Arrington, are just a few names that come to mind that a lot of Skins' fans dislike in their media jobs.
Does the new gig transform their personalities ?

You know... I may also be pissing on someone's sacred cow, but I agree with Al here.

Cooley gave us good memories as Redskins fans and had a Pro Bowl appearance, but he always seemed to think he was the best in the game. He had this stupid war of words with Witten and wasn't even on the same planet as the guy in terms of ability. He has a couple good years, couldn't block for shit and hit the wall head-on all at once and was just done. His butt-hurt attitude on the radio lately when he realized no one wanted him is about half-past being old. He really feels he can still play and I'm sure he didn't exactly get faster in the last two years.

His biggest reason for thinking he can still play... ? He even said himself, current TE's can't block, so he'd fit right in. Seriously.

Big personality... much bigger than his actual ability. Even bigger yet is his ability of self-promotion.

I've had the very same "cooley was just alright" conversation many times. He never went over 1000 and, to me, was more known for his antics than his on field work.

Exactly... the whole "Captain Caveman" thing and "Cooooooley" more than actual production over a career.

Dude was (and is) definitely ... different.

He had a good run there for a couple seasons ... and when a player's playing well and helping the team, the "different" personality stuff can almost seem endearing (See J. Riggins, D. Manley, C. Portis). Once the player stops being effective on the field, it just kinda gets annoying.

Only think I like about Chris on the radio is his film breakdowns after games. I've found his takes to be generally similar to mine on certain players and plays, and having it come from someone who'd played the game, and actually studied the game films, adds some weight to it. He's also made me re-think certain things I've thought I've seen with a fresh set of eyes.

The rest of it ... meh. Another former player trying very hard to stay relevant in the game and carve a second career.
 
Bitchell still hasn't let go of us letting him go.
 
Bitchell is no less guilty of his sins than Cooley (can't think of a nickname yet) or LaFawnduh. Is he right about the stuff with Robert? Sure... until he goes into hyperbolic overdrive. Let Robert take his lumps. He's no worse off than Riggo or any other "character" and please tell me when Robert is downright drunk and disorderly with a sitting Supreme Court Justice... yeah, we seem to just kind of laugh off that crap.

The Redskins worked out FB/TE Evan Rodriguez today. spent time on Tampa's practice squad last year. 5 starts w/Bears in 2012.

It's not a huge deal. Just understand the next time you hear McLovin say that he only wants high character types......it's bs.

I'm sure he'd probably prefer a clean record, but he's not scared of rap sheets.
 
It's not bs. If everyone had their past held against them we'd never get anywhere.
