Some tweets from today.

Anthony Raposa ‏@AnthonyRaposa
Redskins back in RVA today. Tomorrow is the last day of camp.

Burgundy Blog ‏@BurgundyBlog
Callahan wants/needs TEs who can block. If McC doesn’t add one, playbook significantly smaller to start season.

John Keim ‏@john_keim
David Amerson is back as is Jeron Johnson.

Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo
Je'Ron Hamm serving as starting TE today.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
College quarterback Jordan Reed drilling Bashaud Breeland with passes on the sideline. Trent Williams is throwing him ... um, butterflies?

michael phillips ‏@michaelpRTD
TE Jordan Reed sitting out today's practice (hamstring). Redskins went from three to zero pretty quickly.

HumbleSkins ‏@johnnylocal
So Jordan Reed is probably being bubble wrapped right now.

New LB Sage Harold (@Sage3_) wearing No. 96 makes his way out to practice.

Dr. Mark Adickes ‏@jocktodoc
TE Niles Paul is missing entire season b/c his ankle dislocation involves a fracture where RGIII's ankle dislocation last season did not.

John Keim ‏@john_keim
Griffin continues to throw the deep ball well. Just hit Rashad Ross in 7-on-7 and then Pierre Garçon.

Aly ‏@alewnes7
Fans be like "BENCH RG FOR KIRK MCCOY"...lmao but for real, y'all are funny.

Brian McNally‏ @bmcnally14
TE Logan Paulsen will have surgery Monday for his turf toe injury. Done for the year.

Stephen Czarda ‏@SCzardaRedskins
Andre Roberts was not among those returning kicks a minute ago. Rashad Ross, Chris Thompson and Trey Williams were though. Wait and see.

Tarik El-Bashir ‏@TarikCSN
Gruden also said Brandon Scherff WILL be a right guard. Morgan Moses forced coaches' hands.

Brian McNally ‏@bmcnally14
Redskins say DeSean Jackson feeling better with that shoulder. He and Jamison Crowder (hamstring) shooting for Week 3 return vs. Baltimore.

Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo
Gruden says Moses playing with a lot of confidence and moving as a RT is second nature to him now.

Brian McNally ‏@bmcnally14
OLB Junior Galette showed #Redskins even today what a force he can be. Shooting for the third preseason game Aug. 29 in Baltimore.

Mike Jones ‏@MikeJonesWaPo
Tom Compton got some work as a blocking tight end. Possibility this season, Gruden says. Did some there last year in goal line.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Galette said he tore his left pectoral while bench pressing 365 pounds on a day off. Learned not to do that again.

Moses did a friggin 180* turn...good to hear the line is taking shape!

I'm all for throwing in another lineman on short yardage. It should give the offense an advantage in those situations. However, they still need someone who can block and catch to play on most downs to keep the D guessing in normal yardage situations.

John Keim ‏@john_keim

Did Pierre catch it tho ? Unlike the Browns' game ?

Okay, just to clarify - that's Week 3 of the PRE-season.
Scared me for second there

Ya know, while he hasn't helped his case once again with a minor injury, people seem to have written off Reed completely. We have more then one guy with a hammy right now, but Reed is the only one people are bitchin about being injury prone? A strained hammy in camp is about as common as flies on dog doo. We just signed an OLB that is coming off a a torn pec injury. It's a common injury for OLB's apparently, and often recurrent after the first instance. Nobody takes issue with that, even though it's the same injury that was a big issue in weather we retained Rak or not. We need a solid back up TE, not a starter. Reed has had a run of bad luck, and if the gods actually say WTF, and smile on us letting him stay on the field all season, Reed is a game changer.

I'm frustrated too, but instant gratification isn't the answer. This is a player we really need to give some time to get his shit in good order. He's destine to be a star, and I'd like it to be with the Skins....

Eff it...Spencer Long can be the TE in short yardage sets. Rest of the time we go 4 wr'sbwith Almo or Jones in the backfield.

Didn't Steve Spurrier do that?

Converting an OL to blocking TE is what the Redskins did in the past with Ron Middleton under Gibbs.

You have to have a receiving TE ahead of him on the depth chart obviously and the Redskins do in Reed.

But the thought of the 305 pound Compton going against 245 pound linebackers in the run game, especially in short yardage brings smiles.

I don't know if they'd ever pull the trigger on that, but yeah, we need a blocking TE - I like the idea :)

Some tweets from the final day of camp and other thoughts.

Tarik El-Bashir ‏@TarikCSN
Practice has been over for about 30 minutes. Robert Griffin III and Pierre Garçon are last guys on the field.

Brian McNally ‏@bmcnally14
DeAngelo Hall has a left toe injury. Hurt it late in practice. Being evaluated now.

Chris Russell ‏@fakeC_Russell
Regarding Brandon Meriweather going to NYG, what's the old saying, "If he's the answer, I don't wanna know what the question is."

#SkinsCamp ‏@Redskins
Gruden on LB Junior Galette, who took part in his first 11-on-11 action yesterday: "He's a difference maker on defense. He's a distruption."

Regarding new TE D.J. Williams...
Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Mackey Award winner at Arkansas in 2010. Drafted by Packers. Played for Jaguars, Patriots, Buccaneers. Sat out 2014.

BBQ reality check
Falcons roster now consists of the following:
Chris Chester
Leonard Hankerson
Tyler Polumbus
Evan Royster
Nick Williams

Stephen Czarda ‏@SCzardaRedskins
Redskins mixing Galette and Murphy at OLB during 11-on-11s. Galette could have just recorded a sack, too. Quick burst from 4-point stance.

Tarik El-Bashir ‏@TarikCSN
DeSean Jackson is "very close" to returning, according to Jay Gruden. But he's not in pads today. Goal is 3rd preseason game.

Phillip Daniels ‏@PhillipDaniels
I can't believe Chief Zee was denied entrance into Redskins fan day! He has been a fan before most people were born! No excuse for this!
Update: He was stopped by police and forced to turn around at a closed road. He chose to head home.

#SkinsCamp @Redskins
ROSTER MOVES: The Redskins have signed TE Ernst Brun, placed N. Paul and L. Paulsen on Injured-Reserve and waived (injured) RB S. Redd Jr.

Chris Russell@fakeC_Russell
With #REDSKINS #RVA CAMP ending, I am inviting ALL MEDIA to stop at my CRIB in FREDERICKSBURG on way north for a party! #HTTR #GRILL #BEER

1) Don't think there is a racial divide. IMO...especially given what I heard Fri...the call screening often serves to reinforce a commentator pov (i.e., the sample set is biased). More to point, I think many of the pundits make their "money" deliberately stirring the pot. Chad Dukes struck me, for instance, as completely dishonest in his approach. "The fanbase is insulted because there is no QB competition." Completely contrived. Anyone else aware of a rising and vocal tide of fans advancing the Duke meme?

2) Funny...I think all the agenda driven radio jocks are missing a much more interesting contrast: Gruden and McL do not have the same outlook...IMO.....on the priorities for the offense. Gruden drifts too quickly into pass happy land way too often. that is not the type team McL is aiming for. that, IMO, is where the more interesting struggle is going to materialize in the long run. Griffen will either play well the first couple games or not. GRUDEN AINT MCL'S HC SELECTION. McL is the one building this team.

Daniels has already said he's not a fan and if chief zee was on a closed road than that's not bad.

I'm not sure what cop doesn't know who he is though.

Gruden will be gone at the start of next season.

You get that feeling too? I figure he'd have to Zorn this season up for that to happen.

I think that was implied. :)

If he bombs to a 6-10 season or less I'd help him pack.

Barring catastrophic injuries we're a .500 team easy.

Gruden will be gone at the start of next season.

I think I know where you're going with this El! you could be right. Gruden is toast if they continue to lose. and yes, based on past performance, the QB position looks like the "big if." I'm investing some fan faith here and hoping for better - rational or not!
