Random Commanders Thoughts

As soon as one of the NFL's love children, Conboys, Cheatriots, etc.. has an extra point blown wide right by a late season wind, costing them a playoff birth, this worthless idea will be shelved.

Now, if there was only a way to get rid of the stupid, asinine, dumb**** idea of playing games in other countries, we'd all be better off.

Yessir! Drop kick. Only worth 1 point during extra point/points try. Worth 3 at all other times.

As long as it doesn't affect the time it takes from scoring a TD to the kick-off, I don't really care. Once a TD is scored, I get the chance to go to the toilet, make a coffee, maybe make some toast, and still be back in time for the kick-off. Nothing more boring then an extra point kick that is a cert.

Get one of those boring kicks blocked and it becomes a very non boring entity to the outcome of the game, add in the spice of return potential and defenders will suddenly take more interest.

I think this is an underestimated part of this. Even with them not being able to be returned, and at short range, a few XP were blocked last year. Now that the defense can get points will have a factor.

On top of that, how much more hypocritical can the NFL be talking about wanting the league to be safer, yet you make changes like this that essentially take a play that was minimally threatening, to now having more of an emphasis with multiple players inside the box, with a greater risk of a rolling up on the back of the leg, ankle, or arm.

That's NEXT YEAR"S rule change.
All extra point attempts will be played, using Flag Football rules.

Jordan Reed missed today's practices because his knee was getting checked out. All the signs were there. Not sure how much faith we can put into this guy, if any at all.

1. He's a Florida Gator. That's never a good thing. Dante Fowler was a Gator too.

2. Jordan? Jordan Sparks? Jordan from NKOTB? Honestly, what the hell did we expect?

3. I vividly remember his college coach when asked about Reed saying, "He has a lot of potential. Now it's just a matter of getting him used to contact."

Getting a guy "used to contact" 8 months before the NFL draft is a longshot to say the least.

Come on Reed.....this is a make-or-break year for you.

Man up and get on the field. This isn't the old Redskins anymore.

So I see this avertising otas for redskins.com Isnt this how you dislocate an ankle?

And I was criticized for asking "why didn't we take a single TE with one of our 10 picks ?"

Call me crazy... I like when the qb throws from the ground not the air. But that's just me.

So - you're suggesting that injuries are 'attitudinal'? :)

Look - it doesn't take a rocket scientist (like Norman Einstein) to figure out, if you can't stay on the field, it doesn't matter how talented you are. Just ask Brian Orakpo. But injuries, especially joint injuries, happen for a lot of reasons, none of which is attitude or toughness. We may equate durability with toughness, but the truth is, they are different things. Durability is the product of body type, the role one is asked to play, sometimes just plain luck. The farthest I would be willing to go would be to agree that some guys don't seem to know how to protect themselves. It sounds like you are suggesting Reed is a ****y? I don't think that's the case. He's just gotten hurt a lot. Whether he is now, remains to be seen. I agree (as I think most would) that you can't rely on anyone if they can't stay healthy.

Agreed. Throwing from the ground is definitely the ideal.

Unless it's NFL Blitz. Then jumping and throwing is HOW IT IS DONE. :D

Reed was a college qb, he came into the draft at 6'3 and 228.

He is never going to be more than an adequate 'chip' blocker. That's why the team needed to upgrade from Logan Paulsen and get a backup TE that could block AND catch the ball to add a second dimension.

If he can stay healthy (and yeah, we all get, that's an 'if' to date), he is a helluva pass catching TE. I don't think anyone can deny that. If we had consistent QBing he would be a lot more dangerous weapon.

Do we know if Griffin was on a roll out or scrambling during this one picture? It could be a designed play to see how his arm is while running and where his ankles are at.

Or he could just suck the most sucks that ever a suckiest sucker sucked and never learn.
