I think the biggest issue is you are increasing the impact of a specialty player on plays that have little to do with which is actually the better team.

No, I think the empty gap in between plays is the most boring part of the game.
So, let's address that !
Let's have Justin Beiber run out and perform a 30-second song clip in between every play !!!
There you have it !
Let's keep this up, until there are ZERO boring parts of a game, and the entire game we're rushed with racing adrenaline like we should be !
On second thought, maybe we don't need to overhaul every aspect of the game.
If a team scores a TD, they deserve a chip shot PAT, that's actually SHORTER than some field goals are.
 
I actually like the changes. The extra point was easily the most boring play in the NFL. It has been almost automatic and caused coaches to bail out of trying for 2 points to play it safe.

Now, with the play extended out and less certain of conversion, the argument for going for 2 points from the 2 yard line is a bit more convincing.

That should increase the number of 'football' plays run by the offense/defense, rather than depending solely on ST to deliver these post-TD points.
 
All joking aside, if we seriously want to get rid of "boring plays", how about we ban the "kneel-down" play at the end ?
If you want to know what's the most boring AND pointless play, THAT is it.
The thing I hate most about it is, the offense always expects the defense to kneel down along with them, and if the defense actually hits like "normal" on that play, it's considered "classless"
Really, kneeling down, and expecting your opponent to kneel down, is a ***** play. Seriously, why even bother with running the play ? What's the point ??
At least the short PAT accomplished something and had multiple options. The kneel-down play has just one possible outcome, other than the one in a million chance of a freakish fumble.

I'm not sure that moving a PAT to a point where it's still a chip shot FG distance is going to significantly increase 2 pt attempts. We'll have to see about that.
 
Probably depends a lot on who you're kicker is, and what kind of steak, or lack thereof, he is on.
Can't remember when, but not long ago I remember one of our kickers sucking so badly, that we went for it on 4th and long (and the game wasn't on the line, or near the end either) , instead of trying for a makeable FG which I think was somewhere around 40-45 yards.
That type of thing could factor into PAT's

And how do you feel about spiking the ball?
 
You can't hit the Qb and you can't hit a receiver going over the middle.

Now they move the PAT back and the next thing they'll do,cause there's been rumblings about it, is eliminate kick offs .

In ten years, we won't recognize this game anymore.

And yes, I'm turning into a curmudgeon and Roger needs to.....get off my lawn....

You bring up valid points, about the crazy NFL rules, the greed, what the game will be like 10 years from now, and your lawn.
because 10 years from now, anyone who wants to watch an NFL game, will be required to have the Nike endorsement logo mowed into a lawn figure in their front yard.

Totally against the PAT rule change. It takes away an element of the conversion that makes a 2 pt play easier. Now you can't fake the EP and flip a short pass in or run in a muffed snap etc. Don't like the change and it doesn't even offer more excitement imho. I was a holder in high school for ep's and threw many fake ep attempts for 2pts. The whole idea of the 2 pt conversion was the fact it was near the goal line and you could go for it in the 4th when the game is on the line. Just another way of the league screwing up the game imo.
 
Let's hope the Redskins score enough TDs in 2015 for the PAT issue to be relevant.
 
If I were a team like the Redskins that need to be more aggressive to compete with the elite clubs in 2015, I would try more 2 point conversions after touchdown and de-emphasize the 1 point conversion.

Ultimately though, coaches are going to simply amend the existing situational chart they all refer to almost w/o exception.
 
Actually, a guy like Forbath who is among the most consistent short range kickers just saw his value increase significantly.
