Landon Collins is on bspn saying he wants us to draft him due to his love sean and portis.

It's kind of cool having players show love to some of ours considering we haven't been that great
 
I dig it. But it's not something that should influence a decision. I don't believe we should draft a safety in the first two rounds. A Sean Taylor is a once in a generation type of player.
 
I concur...I don't want to use a 5 pick on him.

He's basically a younger goldson from what I've heard.
 
I don't think a safety at 5 makes sense this year either ... at least not this safety. If he were another Sean Taylor, we'd have known it by now.

That said, we should probably note that the younger Goldson was a Pro Bowler. As long as it's been since we've been even competent at free safety around here, that doesn't sound so bad.
 
The Chargers will be in LA soon. San Diego has already lost the Clippers and almost lost the Padres a couple of times.

More fishing and golf fans there than NFL, NBA, etc.
 
Collins can't be saying that for the money....there is a cap now.

And the chargers very well may end up in hell A. The nfl just shortened the deadline for a new stadium and the latest proposal is a joke.
 
I think Collins grew up a Skins fan but I also think he sees a team with a projected starting SS that has started 1 NFL game so far.

It's an opportunity 😉
 
1 start but heralded and praised by the studs he played behind. I have no concerns of Johnson playing lights out

I'll even go as far as to say I guarantee pro bowl.

Being a Bama fan, I wouldn't mind seeing Landon Collins in a Redskins uniform.

Sean Taylor, he is not. He's decent & could develop into a very good safety. He doesn't have the raw talent that Sean possessed. But he is smart & I think, getting his discipline (on the field) issues coached out of him, he'd be good.

draft position brotha: relatively speaking it's more money. when it comes to negotiate follow-on contract it also plays into it. not saying it is the primary reason....but don't kid yourself, from the moment a collegiate career ends a large part of the dynamic is about $$$$. that's what the NFL is about these days. that is how a lot of the players see it from a family and personal pov.
 
I dunno about that. Griffin isn't going to get higher money simply due to being the 2 pick. He would have to earn anything he gets and prove it on t he field.
 
You draft Taylor at #5. You don't draft Laron Landry at #6.

Those top picks need to be potential game changers.

I remember in 2007 the Redskins said after taking him that Landry was the best defensive player in the draft.

I will credit the scouts with doing some homework there.

But in a weak draft class on that side of the ball perhaps the Redskins should have been looking at players on offense with that pick, OL, WR or other?

Collins to me is going to be a very good player in the NFL, but not an elite player.

That's why you don't take him at #5, but would consider it at #20 or #22.

I agree. but BEFORE one is drafted it is reasonable to think that the higher one is drafted translates into more potential income over the long haul. your point about performance being a major factor is absolutely right.
 
Even though there is a rookie cap, I believe it's still slotted. The higher you're drafted, the more you make. At least on your rookie contract.
 
Griffins contract was 4 years for 4.5 mil?

It's peanuts compared to what it was.
