Random Commanders Thoughts

Well, if McCloughan is right, and the DC really is Gruden's call to make, I have zero problem with him taking a good hard look around. His own HC career will be heavily impacted by the success or failure of his new DC---he has to get it right.

Agreed Om. Mangina though? Yikes.

Didn't even see Oparko on the 2015 list. Can see him Cofield, Bowen and possibly Pierre gone unless there's some serious restructuring. Not sure what's a normal pay for a LT but seems Trent needs a redo as well.

I hope we can draft there bowens and cofields replacement as 2015 is bowens last year under contract and frees up 8 million or so next year restructuring him does no good unless the plan on keeping him past next season but he is 30
waiting to cut coifed next off season as he is 30 also hopefully we can find his replacement cutting him next off season saves another 6 million or so

An extra 14 million to spend in 2016 would be really great especially if we have their replacements
one thing I was noticing is that prior to shanahan and Allen getting here guys like cofield and Bowen would have really high dead cap numbers instead of the low ones they have now

No - he's the TE's coach for the 49ers I believe.

Just seen that lol I was thinking of the other Pats DC lol to many thoughts

I don't see a problem with interviewing more than you want to to get a good perspective

Agree that Mangini seems like an outlier. Man was only a DC one year in his entire 15 year career career ... 2005 in NE. And not sure if it's true, but I read that he was apparently relieved of play-calling duties at some point during that year by Belichick.

Just not sure what the connection and/or attraction would be with this particular guy. Which is the same thing I said the day we announced we were talking to Jim Haslett about possibly coming here.

Ok I'll stop.

Thank you....please say no more about that. :joyous:

Probably just a brain pick thing.

He was apart of the best organization currently in football, the Patriots.

Doesn't hurt to glean some info.

At least Mangini would know where to place the cameras to spy on Dallas and the Eagles :)

The part in bold is apparently true, from what I've been able to find.

I'm just wondering, did Belichick by any chance have a part time bingo-caller take over as an interim at that point?

Former HC Eric Mangini is now scheduled to interview for the DC position tomorrow.

Maybe Wade didn't work out? Or it could be posturing.

Or, maybe Wade is looking for a D backs coach.... :paranoid:
