I also believe we'll make a push for Justin Houston, the 25 yr old, NFL sack leader (22). Oh yes, he had more sacks than JJ Watt.

Well here's the thing.

If you were a GM in the NFL right now, would you feel comfortable that RG3 will stay healthy for 5 years, AND that he can actually be a real QB? I'm guessing no.

If that's the case, and you do believe a healthy franchise QB is sitting there when we pick.......that's going to be hard to pass up.

Only 25 years old. Much younger than the two huge FA names, Suh and Revis.

I'd love to see that.

Apples to oranges. Cutler was drafted, what, in 2006 or thereabouts, been a starter for years. Cousins has started a handful of games. We know what Cutler is - we have little idea what Cousins ceiling is. Oh - and one of them might even be coachable

I'm hoping Scot is smarter than all of us. I hope to God we don't trade away a generation worth of draft picks without vastly improving the OLine first, for a QB with maturity concerns.

All the jubilation and relief and happiness I've enjoyed the past 24 hours would be undone with either Jameis or Cutler in a Skins uni. Both would seem to go DRASTICALLY against Scot's preference for building through the draft.

Goal, I'm counting on that being the case. This includes my current assessment that Scottie M. has better talent spotting ability than anyone else in Ashburn has had in years.

This also means, due to the current lack of information about what direction/strategy/identity is going to coalesce in the near future between Scot, Jay, subordinate coaching staff,and whoever else with-thank the football gods-Scot having roster control, I am preparing myself for almost any possibility including a complete "tear it all down and rebuild from scratch" scorched earth roster re-do that may dismay some Redskins fans to the point of near-trauma with the lost of "personal fav" players along the way and a whole new type of Redskins team.

Just as an exercise, I have been picturing in my mind the similarities and differences between what the 49ers and Seattle teams look like in how they play and the types of players they have at different positions on the teams and thinking "Is this the general image of the Redskins in a few years?"

Has any Redskins team looked like they do?



I'm thinking it might be wise for fans to incorporate a bit of flexibility before jumping the gun on "Oh, God he's doing it all wrong!" assessments of how things are going-for a while, at least.

Cutler would be a disaster.

Not sure why they'd get rid of RG3, though. He has another year under contract and wouldn't likely get much more than a 5 or 6 pick. He already knows the system, and is the best athlete at the position.

I think the draft will tell us a lot about the new GM. One thing SF and Seattle have in common are dominant defensive linemen and bulky o-lines. I hope we focus on that first.

There are four main reasons you would trade him:

1. You'll get a pick (maybe a 4th?) this year. You'll get nothing if he just walks at the end of next season.

2. Health concerns. Would anyone draft a QB with 2 major knee injuries, a dislocated ankle and some concussions? Very unlikely in the early rounds. Does the new GM really want to hitch his wagon to that for the next four years, or instead spend that time developing someone healthier?

3. A potential franchise QB falls into your lap at the 5th pick. Take that guy? Or possibly have to spend additional picks to move up in future drafts if RG3 can't stay healthy or doesn't work out or if he walks at the end of the year.

4. Pay RG3 $17 million a year in 2016? Or pay your second-year QB $5 million in 2016, and free up the rest of that money for additional players?

In order for use to get Jameis we'd have to trade with Tampa to get the first pick. I don't see why they would do that unless they don't feel confident in Jameis. Plus, I'm guessing it wouldn't just be RGIII straight up for the overall #1, so we'd be giving up more picks when we need them the most.

also...it's not as though Seattle went direct to Wilson...recall that they spun through a number of FAs and trades at that position

I hate to agree with Al in terms of being pessimistic about someone, but I don't see anything good on or off the field coming from this kid.

might be interesting to investigate whether McG pursued scorched earth at SF and Seattle...or not.

I don't see Vince Young comparisons, simply because he's an excellent pocket passer with great anticipation who throws WRs open.

I could see Jamarcus Russell on the negative side if he bombs.

well...I know you love the guy and I don't want to get in the way of the emotional side of this...we all do it.

I watched him in several games this year and just don't see him as being all that good. he also looks to have a slow delivery to me...though that me be my eyeys fooling me since he is bigger than most QBs

only thing I can see going for him is his winning streak......but I don't see that translating to the NFL where everyone is twice as fast and equally big.

His upside is probably Ben Roethlisberger.

His downside is probably Jamarcus Russell.

But healthy. Likely a guy who would remain healthy for 15 or 16 games a season due to his size.

He regressed this year, there's no doubt about it. Last year he threw for something like 40 TDS with only 3 Ints. He was incredible.

This year he didn't come close to that. That could be the pressure off the field, it could also be that his WRs were crap this year. Last year he had Kelvin Benjamin, etc. Difficult to say for sure. Or more likely, probably some combination of the two.

I don't get the love affair you have with Winston. I just don't. He is a basket case off the field and I can't see why you want that circus around the circus we already have going on in Ashburn.
