I personally don't care at this point how it plays out....just interested in the logic/constraints/assumptions of the decision process.

I presume that he'd evaluate his resources as part of the plan as well as having alternatives in mind before getting rid of Griff or anyone else for that matter. He'd still need to field a team of some sort.

not picking on you Tom. I kinda reasoned to the conclusion a couple mos ago that we didn't really have any options QB wise this off-season barring a trade-up. granted...lotta assumptions such as there are no real candidates in this year's draft class. this guy, obviously, is paid to know more than some coach potato like me!

I'll see if I can find it, because I can't remember where I read it...old age creepin....But I had read where McLoughan has said that if he gets a job like this again, he already had a plan in place down to which people he brought with him:staff,scouts etc. ,people he trusted, to run things how he wanted.

Just think how tough the NFC West is and he basically built half of it himself (SF and Seattle).

I didn't mention it here last week when it happened, frankly because I didn't think about it, but the rumors swirling reminded about my conversation with Al Galdi and Chris Cooley I had last week.

I called in to answer the question they had posed, "If you were able to give Dan Snyder advice to build a winner, what would you say?"

I called and said I would tell him to fire up Redskins' One and fly to Ferndale, WA and throw millions at Scott McCloughan. Neither of them responded to the question, Cooley chimes in with, "How cool would it be to say, 'Fire up the jet'" I swear it was like they were clueless, they had no idea who I was talking about. They went on to the next caller and didn't even mention McCloughan's name again. They had callers call in to suggest player personnel people, but no specific names.

ST sent me a message this morning to inform me of Ian Rappaport's report. I soon saw it going out to other sources, but it remains rumor. We'll see, but I am starting to become more cynical of our local sports talk characters (I hate to call them journalists anymore)…they are less informed than many of us.

Yeah I was reading up a little bit on him & it seems like this would be best & biggest move in the right direction this regime has ever made. He seems to have a green thumb as far as knowing how to build a winning franchise & going after someone like him? This would be the right move.

Now, my question is, if they end up getting McCloughan, are they still pursuing AJ Smith?

So, the Danny is going to throw money at the next big 'thing'...a dynamic GM. Not just one, mind you, but TWO and then, somehow, try to justify keeping Allen on.

Sorry, but this all sounds way too familiar. Win the off-season, continue to lose on the field.

Oh, well, I'm willing to see how this soap opera plays out, too.

I frankly don't see why there is any problem with how Snyder spends his money, no skin off my back whatsoever.

It may very well be the 'splash' thing but is it not what everyone has been clamoring for?

Get a 'real' football person, or two or three or whatever on board to straighten things out.

If he wants to keep Allen on as a 'pet'.... so what.

If these moves are made, any real success may not be evident for a period of time so we'll all have to wait anyhooz.
