Rotoworld references the paper to remain nameless at the top of his profile regarding the article about Haslett being retained in January. It states he's got "one year left on his contract."
 
SNF, thanks again for the awesome research! That rule is clearly defined and was applied correctly.

The problem is that this rules creates a loophole. If someone touches you and you are tripping, why not just take you hands off the ball temporarily, then grab it again. Since you didn't have possession until you hit the ground and demonstrated posession again, you could just get up and run. Because the way this rule is written, and the way it was applied Sunday, there are two separate possessions on this play. So why would the first part where you were tripped matter.

he's gonna have to go somewhere arnd 7-9 next year to stick. to do that will require an o-line that can pass pro and QBs that can execute.
 
While RGIII may struggle at times, at least we aren't paying him Jay Cutler money.
 
Has anyone else noticed a strange silence from Griffin on social media as of late?

his last post on Instagram or Facebook was Nov 28th and was a picture of his family during Thanksgiving.

Perhaps with him being quiet and Gruden being supportive we could see a change in how things are handled?

Of course he should return. No brainer. All those folks wanting him tarred and feathered and rode out of town on a rail don't have a clue. None of us here know what has caused this debacle of a season. From where I sit, he was a new coach, with a new scheme, and came on strong like a players coach. Then, the losing changed things, he had to get tough, but couldn't, and the players tuned him out. It was all on the players not to buy in to the new coach philosophy and scheme. It was impossible for it to work, given that most of those players are just a guy, average at best, could be cut at any time. Let's face it, Gruden had little to nothing to work with. Rebuild is putting it mildly. Year two we'll see him clean out the roster and the staff. He's knows what he is dealing with now.

To be honest and fair, we should also require no penalties and no injuries. You have yet to acknowledge the role these two have played in a 3 win season.


Remember my post from a month or so ago about the only "stats" that matter.....record, pts scored/allowed, 3rd down conversions made/allowed, penalties and injuries. We have absolutely failed in all of these, despite the media claiming they don't know how we can be in the top 10 in offense and defense in the stats. All they have to look at is these, and if you do, you won't see Gruden's name featured prominently except in the lack of points scored. So it all isn't on him. That's why I given him a pass and an opportunity to get the right players and coaches to give us a chance.
 
This season on a positive note....


The positive being what comes next season.

Yeah, he's been real quiet longer than that. Outside of two tweets trying to clarify the quotes where people said he threw the team under the bus, he hasn't tweeted Redskins on the field type of stuff since beginning of November. i.e. mainly been charitable work, Veterans, etc.

1) I have posted about discipline, etc., many times - the stuff a coaching staff is ultimately accountable for.


I had a long response on stats. will skip it and head for the punchline: stats, the way you use them, are descriptive. they aren't explanations. they can be used to support an argument, but then the burden is on you to establish relative weighting. no one is denying multiple factors are in play - the kick is in how they inter-relate and which dominate. throwing stats against the wall to see what sticks isn't a causal analysis.

here is what I will acknowledge: this is a fan blog and everyone is entitled to an opinion. there is no unwritten rule that we must post doctoral level theses to express a pov. we'll all simply have to be content with our respective perspectives/opinions and not worry too much about the rest.
 
2 things that are going to hurt Gruden now even more.

1 - he cant shut the **** up. Talking shit about DeSean while praising a WR from his old team PLUS the team we play this weekend is just stupid. How can he not get to just shut his damn mouth and stop dogging his own guys?

2 - Colt going to IR due to injury after he just allowed him to play. We all knew he was injured...no way that Jay didn't know he was injured, too. That should be a big smudge on his record.

That one is going to sit with me for a long time. His dislike of and hardon for Robert is so intense that was willing risk compounding Colt McCoy's injury, something that not only put him out the last two games period, but could possibly hurt his chances of finding a gig next year.

Reminded me of Vinny and his comments about just needing to "get over" his injury (or whatever it was) talking about Chris Samuels.

Really? You are going to bag on Gruden for this? Don't you think the medical staff had something to say about it or do you really think the Head Coach put a kid in to play over the objections of his medical professionals? Surely Colt himself had something to say about it too. Just sayin'.

Not to be a dick here but didn't Shanahan get the same grief for Griffin's injury? It's the nature of the beast....the player is going to try to do whatever he can to play so he doesn't lose his starting job forver and its up to the staff to decide what is really best for him.

Neo...don't forget we have a history here of putting injured players back on the field when...perhaps...they should be seated. makes me think of the scene in the "Any Given Sunday" flic where the doc oks Lawrence Taylor to keep playing.
