Random Commanders Thoughts

Both teams have good defenses..both in the same division. I'd say that comparing the niners and rams defenses is an ok thing to do.

But the production levels are totally off balanced. It's not even close.

Everybody seems to be asking:

Does anybody know what happened to our running game?

* lights please *

When you have no passing game because either : your QBs are indecisive or your protection constantly breaks down, the defense knows going in, you're one dimensional.

Then you add in that the interior of our Oline is weak and gets pushed around like a Costco buggy, then you see why Alfred gets met in the backfield by at least one,if not two defenders. The fact that Morris gains the yards he does is practically a miracle.

That's where the run game went to Charlie Brown.

Add to this that Chris Foerster sucks like a Hoover at his job too. Still waiting for Long and Moses to get on the field....wonder if Moses could play left guard next to Trent ? Is Long better at guard or center?

Really need to find this out before this season mercifully ends.

Agreed. I'd be totally fine with Long and Moses out there. What was the point of drafting them if we're aren't going to use them? We're 3-10. Why are we trying to win games at this point? Now is the time to evaluate all the young guys to see what you have. Trotting Chester out there every week isn't helping the young guys develop.

This conversation was had between Grant and Danny on the local radio yesterday. "Losing with a purpose." There is no reason for anyone, regardless of position, to be on the field if they aren't expected to be on the roster next year. This might be why Griff isn't out there, who knows. IF that's the case, then it should be handled the same way across the board. I love seeing Moss out there, but I'd like to see more of Grant. Get the young guys the reps. If the ball out and we win, great!!!! But it's bigger picture now.

It's funny because earlier in the season when talking about RG3 playing, Gruden said he's a "big reps guy". How are we going to develop players here if they aren't getting the reps? I mean honestly, can the OL really play any worse? Let Long and Moses see what they can do. Let Grant get in there over Moss. Work some of the younger DL guys into the rotation. I just don't understand the point of not letting those guys play more. Cool, if we win out we finish 6-10. BFD.

For a team, and especially a severely struggling head coach, getting wins is monumentally important.

Yes, that is true. But when the season is clearly over, winning now just screws up draft position. When we were sitting at 3-5, I really thought we had a chance to at least finish around .500. But since then, we've totally fallen apart, especially after the bye week. The last 4 weeks have seen 3 of our worst games of the year. With a 1st time HC, it's important to show progress if nothing else as the season goes on. We've lost 5 straight and have gotten blown out in 3 of the last 4. Hell, even the Raiders have won 2 of their last 3 games.

The Texans and Browns both have rookie HCs. Both of those teams are sitting at 7-6 and in playoff contention. Going into the season, you'd be hard pressed to say either of those teams were more talented than the Redskins. Yet, both of those teams have improved this season, while we have exactly the same record as we did at this point last year and have gotten here almost the exact same way.

So sure, winning is important of a rookie HC, but we've passed that part of the season. Winning now, hurts more than it helps. I wanna see progress on offense and defense and if we win, that's fine. But I haven't seen anything that suggest this team is progressing right now. We're severly regressing.

Right... not talking about losing on purpose, more talking about evaluating and progressing. Winning is a bonus. We aren't doing it with the vets in there, get the young bucks out there and see what they got.

K.Robinson, Hatcher, Meriweather not participating in practice. Moses is missing. Injured a foot yesterday. Mystery Lineman is here, though!

Meriweather....one guy they need to FINALLY give up on. Part of me wants to know how much time and cap this team has wasted on guys like Meriweather but it'd just be another depressing statistic, like the one about rookie players especially QB's having career days against us.

Gruden may very well be in over his head as HC, but I think he has been effective working with quarterbacks.

So while he may be part of the problem I am beginning to think more and more that Griffin is as well.

This is two staffs in succession that resisted starting Griffin as a pocket qb.

They are seeing things they don't think they can change.

That is troubling.

I have the feeling Haslett guaranteed his awesomeness.

Effective working with QBs? Which QBs? None on this team.

Go look at all 3 QBs starts this season. They've all gotten worse the more they played. That says something about the coaching. Why are all 3 regressing the more playing time they see?

I have a feeling that Gruden is going to start Colt this week even though he is hurting. I just have this sinking feeling in my gut that it will happen...and IF it does I fully expect yet another media shitstorm over it. Who should start? Is RG III done again? Where will he end up next season?

I just honestly feel like you give Griffin the rock right now. We have 3 games left with nothing to gain or lose except evaluation. Let the kid go out there, see if he can make some plays, and go from there.

In the 2 minutes he was in against the Lams he went 3 for 4, 33 yards (18 longest), and 75% completion rating. That is when the defense is now doing Gregggggggg's dirty work and sending a message. They were sending the house still and our already weak OL was just dog tired and given up by then.

Let the kid try. Give him plays to try with that he can actually use. Shotguns, roll outs, read option, shit the kid has shown he can do. You do it for Colt!!! Let Morris get the rock and pound it, let DeSean start laying out for some of these deep balls instead of just expecting them to hit him in the hands perfectly every time, let Garcon get involved, let Reed tear up the middle. We CAN do this...Griffin CAN do this. It just helps to have his coach not constantly dragging him thru the mud while lifting up every other QB on the roster.

If I could like this 1000 times I would.

You said everything I've been saying perfectly. What is there to gain with Colt starting at this point? Does anyone really believe Colt is the answer at QB? We're gonna play noodle arm Colt in the Meadowlands with a hurt neck? Yeah that's going to go swell.

Give the ball to Griffin and tell him this is his chance now. Sink or swim with him. If he plays well, he goes into next year with confidence, the team goes into next year with some confidence and the fans go into next season with some hope. Isn't that what Snyder/Allen want? How in the world do they plan to sell tickets next season if they're touting Colt McCoy as the guy? You saw FedEx last week. Do they want a full season of the next year? Then let RG3 finish out this season and see what he has.

Gruden needs to grow a pair of balls and adjust his scheme. He said he would when he was hired. What happened? Why is he willing to call roll outs and PA for Colt, but not RG3? Call plays to RG3's strengths and see what happens. Obviously whatever Gruden has been doing so far hasn't worked. So change it up and bit. What's the worst that can happen with Griffin starting? He gets hurt? Okay then we know he's injury prone and can't finish a season. He plays poorly? Ok we know he can't play in this system. There is almost no downside to starting RG3. There's downside to starting Colt because then you still have controversy going into next season. Do the right thing Jay, start Robert.

Yes, that is true. But when the season is clearly over, winning now just screws up draft position.
Draft position is meaningless 99 times out of 100.
Winning, is, and should be the goal, 100% of the time.

Winning is something this particular coach needs to learn how to do. If he is going to be our coach, he needs every win he can get, ASAP.

Winning never hurts.

Winning in 2011 is what took us out of the running to use our own draft pick on RG3 in the 1st place. We don't win a couple games at the end of 2011, we don't need to trade all those picks for RG3.

With 3 games left, what does finishing 6-10 accomplish? Are you going to feel better about the direction of the team going into next year? Is it going to make you think Gruden has it all figured out? That McCoy is the guy going into next season?

Gruden says they don't need to see anymore RG3 to figure out what he can or can't do #Redskins

What the ****?!!!

So, he's not going to play him? Even if he is good to go he is just not going to play him?

This is a ****ing soap opera once again and this time its easy to point right at the coach and say "YEP! ITS YOU!!" and know it is. You put your best player in the game to win some ****ing games!!!
