I'm not saying we have to fire Gruden I'm just saying I won't be upset if we do. I am ambivalent about him at best. He is screwed up the Griffin situations so badly and his subsequent quarterback decisions have been mystifying, so I don't have a lot of faith in him. If given the opportunity I suppose you could improve next year, I just don't have a lot of faith that he will. I won't care if he goes and I won't care if he stays, honestly.

That's kind of where I am on this. I'm not seeing any improvement anywhere. Because of that, it wouldn't disappoint me if he's gone. I want continuity as organization and I can take growing pains. But I'm not seeing any growth.
 
Continuity IS a big deal but we had that with Gibbs and Shanny. If the team is in a sad state, continuity can actually be a bad thing as Shanny showed us. Flush this turd and move on before it's too late and we've wasted what little talent we have.
 
Griffin is done. McCoy and Cousins may not be the next great thing, but they could be serviceable backups for us.

I say Griffin is done for two reasons.

One, the athlete of 2012 is no more and will not be back.

Two, the result of the injuries has just further exposed that Griffin never learned the fundamentals of playing the position for success at this level.

The sad truth is Andrew Luck was better prepared at 19 or 20 to play in the NFL than Griffin is at 24 or 25.
 
So what would you do in the offseason BT?

Sign a Sam Bradford/Mark Sanchez type, pick one in the first round or pick another project in the 5th or 6th rounds?
 
From what I am seeing in reports there is no obvious franchise qb to go after.

I would see if I could get a veteran in for 2015 and draft a guy in Round 3 or 4 to develop.

Meanwhile, we need to unload some salary and start to build again with younger picks and free agent signings.

Orakpo, Bowen, Chester, Cofield, Moss, Meriweather and Clark have to go.

Hankerson, LeRibeus, Biggers, and Paul have outlived their usefulness as well.

Lauvao and Roberts were dud signings but I don't know about their contract cap hits if they were released. We may have to keep them around another year.

pretty much agree with all of this.

the sad part is...until they get a quality QB...I don't know if I want to watch the same ole you know what for another year.

I would that Gruden is also on a short string. hr clearly wasn't ready for the job.
 
That's another result of the dysfunction.

An experienced GM with a track record would have interviewed the coaches differently and likely come up with another choice.

Of course you could say another GM might have looked at Griffin and said lets move on, so the need to get a perceived qb guru would have been less and the focus could have been on whether he could manage a 53 man roster.

You're right on that Fan. You're desires outweigh your perception of reality. You want Griffin gone so he can have a chance to succeed somewhere else. I doubt he goes. But I didn't think you were really wanting to keep Gruden. But you give him the short string in the real world.

Gruden is all but lame duck. Nothing short of a complete rebuild (dumping RGIII of course) and a miraculous turnaround in 2015 can save his job. Snyder may want to keep Griffin, meaning we are in for a re-do of 2014. At that time, you will have seen that play act out before and the ending is the same.

We are pretty much doomed for a repeat performance for sure, no matter the coach, no matter the quarterback. Remember as Fans what we really are looking for. Not who we bring in, players or coaches, but what those acquisitions do for us for the future. We've never made a move today, for results to follow in the future. Its always been about what are you doing for me now. The "now" never has a chance to materialize.

Everybody seems to be asking:

Does anybody know what happened to our running game?

When you have no passing game because either : your QBs are indecisive or your protection constantly breaks down, the defense knows going in, you're one dimensional.

Then you add in that the interior of our Oline is weak and gets pushed around like a Costco buggy, then you see why Alfred gets met in the backfield by at least one,if not two defenders. The fact that Morris gains the yards he does is practically a miracle.

That's where the run game went to Charlie Brown.

Add to this that Chris Foerster sucks like a Hoover at his job too. Still waiting for Long and Moses to get on the field....wonder if Moses could play left guard next to Trent ? Is Long better at guard or center?

Really need to find this out before this season mercifully ends.

Time to quit trying to get by ,by being finesse and build a line that can actually get physical.

If Robert makes it, there's going to come a day when he can't run anymore. Hell, we're seeing that foreshadowed now.
 
Yup..build up the uglies. But for now he at least gives morris a better chance.
 
Griffin and Colt started against different teams. That can have an impact on running success :)

Morris has had a couple great games this year but overall has had a down year just about everyone else. The holes, just like the protection, just aren't there. And with a mostly ineffective passing attack, defenses are definitely loading the box. I don't think it matters who is under center for the most part.
