This team has a serious decision to make about the starting QB going forward.

With top talent needed in other obvious places like the secondary, lines, etc......it's going to hurt if we have to draft another QB in the first round.

With that said, are any of these QBs good enough to really believe they are a long-term solution? Maybe we'll see another game from Kirk before the season's over that will help clear things up.

this is where we agree. which is why I have been arguing all along that we had better fix RGIII or this team is in a pickle. the other guys are never going to advance beyond being placeholders for an eventual No 1 spent on another QB....and everything that implies.

why didnt the defense adjust AT ALL yesterday?

We got torched by 80 deep not once but twice for a score. then 10 gets us. why didnt Haz or Morris or even Gruden call for the safeties to line up deep and just give up the underneath instead of relying on a slow Clark and obviously outmatched Amerson to continue to fail?

That was poor coaching...

Congrats Colt McCoy for having a career game. We know you didn't win the game, and we know you will never be the full time long term starter. But for one day, you had a pretty good day, considering what a poor cast of characters you have around you. Nice to see an overachiever at the QB postion for a change. Way better than watching the biggest disappointment of the 2014 season (and 2013 for that matter RGIII.)

The smart fans know that you are not the reason for the debacle that is the Wash. Redskins. The smart fans know that you are not the great white hope. The smart fans know you are not the face of the franchise selling subs on tv. And lastly, the smart fans know that you maybe the only player showing up to play to win the game and not stand around waiting for someone else to make the play. We'll always be grateful for Colt's win in Dallas, the only highlight of a losing and lost season. I for one am happy that you showed up to play them and win, as I sold my soul to the devil, traded all the rest of the season as loses if you only give us a win in Dallas. Thanks for showing up, playing above your head, and making us proud. (now just go out and beat em again so the off season will be tolerable.)

Also, PFT is reporting that the Gators will make a run at Chip Kelly tomorrow. It's highly unlikely that he'll leave Philly for Fla, but maybe $10 million a year could do it.

I'll take the heat on this one but Doc Walker just stepped up on the radio and called out someone for using the race card in this QB debacle.

Most DC Sports Radio callers can almost be figured out before they get three words out of their mouths over who they support in this QB situation.

It's a GD shame how many people make this about race and I'm pretty sick of it. Isn't enough to have outsiders call us racist for cheering for the REDSKINS? SMGDH

That is why I am glad that the people on this site are WAY smarter than this. The Redskins, our team, the fans, and the front office have a lot of issues but that never even crossed my mind as to why he was benched. I doubt that even crossed Griffin's mind in why the benching happened.

This is why all the good numbers Colt racked up are, as far as I'm concerned, ultimately meaningless-and that is not necessarily a slam against McCoy-his effort was wasted by hideous redzone play-calling and execution. He bears partial blame-but only partial.

He did win it. He just didn't do it alone. No player does.

And this is why any argument about an individual QB-or any position actually, are limited in applicability. Only part of the blame can be heaped on either Colt, Robert, or even Cousins, for that matter.

The way he caused all that drama in the locker room to produce such mediocrity tells me gruden is an inmate and not a warden. He's losing respect fast and the players feel no need to try hard Ala the lucky td to paulsen

And my greatest fear is that this may be to a certain extent true-if so, prospects for future improvement look less and less promising-and only partially due to Jay G., IMO. The job of HC for the Redskins has had, in terms of "responsibility/authority" in recent history, has been in flux and seldom clearly defined or followed even if defined.

But the fact is that in terms of up and coming coordinators, none of the available candidates were as sexy as Gruden.

Afterall, he`s got a well-known, Super Bowl winning brother. In addition to that, in theory, he was supposed to bring the franchise darling back to super stardom. That takes precedent over team.

In a nutshell, the move fell right in line with how Dan Snyder does business. Should we have expected anything different...

Smart fans know the starting QB is credited with the win regardless of stats.

Smart fans know the defense did not score a point.

Smart fans know Dallas made no adjustment to the blitz.

Do you want me to go on and on for your edification? You perpetuate your opinion as some kind of all knowing truisms without any substantiation as to fact or even just give us some stats. You float the most myths of anyone on here. I have yet to see your expletive filled tirades supported by anything of merit. Lets get down to brass tacks, not bold faced lies. You continually act like someone on here has advocated Colt as the future of this franchise and I can't understand your premise much less your conclusions. All I was doing was giving Colt his due credit just a little pat on the back, something positive, but you just can't stand it. This isn't about your agenda.

I've been thinking about the lack of redzone success by the Redskins and did some digging. As usual I found something that provides further muddying for the waters of which Redskins QB is better or worse at what things.

Figures I'd find things that confuse matters-hell, it's become a hobby, it seems.

I looked at QB redzone performance this season.




Kirk Cousins Redzone passing 22 attempts 13 completions 6TDs, 0 INTs, 1 sack TD/attempt percentage 27.3%

Colt McCoy Redzone passing 9 attempts 4 completions 1TD, 0 INTs, 0 sacks TD/attempt percentage 11.1%

Robert Griffin Redzone passing 10 attempts 6 completions 1 TD, 2 sacks, TD/attempt percentage 10%

OK, there are more factors both mitigating and damning than you could shake a stick at, of course, but like my dad used to do I thought I'd squirt some more charcoal lighter fluid on the already glowing coals.
