Random Commanders Thoughts

The worst part of this whole situation is now that we in the midst of yet another crisis situation in Washington, Dan Snyder will go back to his manipulative ways and win over the fanbase as per usual going into 2015.

Look back throughout Dan's tenure in Washington - when things get really bad, he usually responds by doing what he does best - selling a false sense of hope.

With the supposed franchise darling and saviour now falling from grace in the blink of an eye, Dan will feel the urgency to restore faith among the fanbase now more than ever.

So, expect more of the same this coming offseason with a full allotment of draft picks and money to spend. Dan will go banana's again.

Debate all you want about whether Gruden or Griffin need to go.

The real problem is sadly ownership. Combine Snyder's mastermind tactics to reel us continously year after year, with unfit football management, and our willingness as fans to support this team through thick and thin and you have a perpetual cycle of ineptitude as a franchise.

Leave seats empty, don't buy merchandise, don't support Snyder's bottom line.

As a fanbase, we've definitely experienced what it feels like to hit rock bottom.

If our owner's pockets are still full, can he really say the same? I can assure you he's not losing sleep at night like us over the state of the franchise.

I heard that Suh is going to be a FA soon.

What are the odds Snyder goes after him for 120Mil.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Every year it seems I just want the Redskins to be relevant in the playoff hunt on Thanksgiving. Year after year it doesn't happen with the exception of 2012. The last month has been harder than any stretch that I can recall. I applaud everyone on this board for being able to express differing views of what went wrong and what didn't without flaming out on one another. I'm somewhat reserved as a general rule when it comes to being hostile towards others on any message board. I must admit it has taken a bit more effort the last couple of weeks but then I remember each one of us is dealing with the same frustration and disappointment. Deep down inside we all want the same thing and none of us can truly say why Griffin regressed can we? I'm thankful for having this forum where we can agree to disagree...vent some, maybe even ruffle some feathers and still stay civil. Lord knows it isn't like that on most fan based boards.

Right back at you. And you hit the nail on the head. It continues to be pretty tough to be a Redskins fan. I hope to be around when that finally all changes. And in a diverse community, you are always going to have a lot of differing opinions on why we are where we are. I agree with you that, generally speaking, even under the kind of duress Redskins fans are going through, folks here find a way somehow not to cannibalize each other and lash out at fellow fans in frustration. We're not perfect, and it's understandable that there is some heat and aggression in posts when things are as bad as they are, but we really appreciate everyone doing their best to keep it under control and remember that everyone is hurting and has their own way of dealing with more disappointment. We have great members here and that is what makes the difference.

Agreed. Everyone has their own ideas & PoV on the subject. And everyone here has been fairly civil about the whole thing, which is refreshing.

Happy Thanksgiving my Redskins Family! You guys make getting on the interwebs worth my time! :D Hail.

So wanted to gauge opinions here on the draft. Is this the year to stay at the top of every round to pick BPA, at positions of need? Or is this the year to trade down like a mofo and horde as many 2-4 rounds of talent?

I'm torn actually tho think the best way would be to accumulate multiple mid rd picks.

We're most likely going to have a top 5 pick, and it pains me to say it.... but Griffin might end up being dealt, causing one of those teams with a need at QB to suddenly not need that high pick anymore. Gurley coming off ACL surgery and no Clowney coming out this year might hurt our ability to move that no. 1 pick for a large return... I haven't studied many draft boards yet.... is there anyone up there that another team would absolutely need?

Chris Burke from SI has a mock draft out with Mariota going to the Jets at #2 and Winston to Tampa Bay at #4 and Conner Cook from Mich. St. to the Texans at #14 for whatever that's worth.

Gurley falls to 20? Seriously? That dude is Reggie Bush-esque....I mentioned him earlier and the knee but dang thats' a heck of a fall.

Kraperneck threw for 126 and 2 picks while sacked 4 times. Guess maybe that nfc west defense is strong.

Nah. It's all Griffin's fault. Either that or Kap is as bad as Griffin. Pick your reason.

I think the key to Chip Kelley's offense is the speed. They are moving so fast it wears out the defense. He sees the weakness in group on field and attacks them.

Time of possession for Eagles is very low. Thing is they move and score so quickly.

Chip Kelly's offense would make most any QB look good. Except for Romo.

In the meantime, Chip Kelley makes Mark Sanchez look like an option qb and stomps the pukes. Sanchez! See what good coaching can do...

RG3 in that offense would be 2012 deja vu.

Good coach? How about great players. Remember that 2012 Redskins were a bad team with bad players. 3-6 to start the year. It was Grif and Morris that willed this team into the playoffs. Those two guys were responsible. 2013 pretty much the same starters, terrible results. We thought it was an aberration. 2014 same old thing, these players are bad. Yes we have a new coach, rookie head coach. With a foster full of bad players, (and for the record we didn't think Grif was that bad and thought Morris was still the 2012 Morris) we now have a legitimately bad record on account of bad players and a QB who can't grasp the new head coach's play book.

I have to say tr1, your bias is off the charts. Any rookie head coach is going to suffer when the players don't execute, or simple can't execute. We need to give Gruden the latitude to bring his players in that suit his scheme. Because we've seen the guys we got can't get it done. New players will also clean up the lockerroom cancers. The purge must continue and the results will get better. I have no doubts about that.

I'm glad you have faith in Gruden, Micks. I'm losing faith quickly. In my opinion, he has butchered handling Griffin, I'm not actually sure how he could have done it worse. He seems hellbent on continuing the circus atmosphere we had here under Shanahan, that after I was hoping he would restore some normalcy.

He was brought in to work with Griffin, who has gotten markedly worse from last year; Cousins also looks worse, or at least the same as his poor performances last year. Playcalling, to my mind, has been uninspired and tepid. The argument could be made that he is afraid to call all the plays with our sieve of an OLine and our QB situation, but regardless, I've been unimpressed.

Had he kept the Griffin drama in house where it belongs, I would have a lot more faith in him, personally.

Gotta love pftmz. Last week it was he's done and will be on a new team next year.

Nice post, BB. Good read. I don't have a problem with benching Griffin. He was coming off a horrific year last year, then got injured very quickly this year. It should not be a shock to anyone that he wasn't ready. My issue with Gruden is the manor in which he carried out the benching. My hope was that Griffin could play this year, and by the end of the year the team would be more certain what his status as our franchise QB was moving forward. Each game he doesn't start lessens the likelihood of that happening, unfortunately.

I've said it before, but if you can't play Griffin in meaningless games at the end of the year, when will you play him? To start next year when you have a chance? It just doesn't make sense they would sit him now if they want him to be part of the future.

My thinking on the Florio article...

Florio wouldn't post something so concrete if he didn't have some info from the organization. If he had just a snippet or a token statement from the team, his post would've been far more critical or disbelieving. Someone on the inside gave him more than just a bone and he posted this a short time ago.

It's very believable. Florio has no real love for the Redskins and a lot of disdain, but someone on the inside had to tip the scales and enunciated what the real team position is for the present and future. He can be very sarcastic and brutal at times, but this has a tone that seems to be very supportive of RG3 going forward and I have no reason to doubt it.
