I don't understand this. What is the upside to playing McCoy? So you can win one or two meaningless games and hurt draft position? I'm not saying tank the season. But this is the time to throw Griffin out there and have him learn. So are they going back to him at the start of next season when games actually mean something to see if he has figured it out? Griffin should play and he either will get it or not. If not, then you know and you move on next year and trade him, cut him, or bench him until his contract runs out. You also will have a better draft pick in that scenario. If he does figure it out, then you have hope for next season.

This current decision only makes sense if you plan on having Griffin never play again. He's not getting better by watching. He watched plenty of games the past two seasons and has only gotten worse each time he sits.

I think some of us are over analyzing it. Griffin was not prime time ready for the NFL game. Maybe he is just one of those QB's who can benefit from holding a clipboard for awhile. Didn't seem to stunt Aaron Rodgers growth as a QB. Remember, most of all that time not playing he was rehabbing injury so he couldn't practice. Now he can run the scout team a while.

Don't think I'm down on Grif, hell I bought a $200 porcelain statue of him prior to 2012. I hoped he was the savior. I have no doubt he will get better with time.

Yeah. It does. Gruden and Allen can regain a little of my lost faith if they just cut Griffin loose and let him find a new home. Have some mercy on the poor guy. Then, focus on the lines. Build the team from the trenches out and call 2015 what it will be: a development year. If that means we have to trade off our diva-drama-queen wide receivers, get the highest draft picks we can and cut their sorry asses loose. Frankly, the reports coming out that starting Griffin would have lost the team sicken me. The fact that Gruden showed he has no balls and will not stand up to those divas disgusts me. He capitulated, evidently, which means that the WRs now essentially own the team. Outstanding. I wonder how that is going to work when McCoy doesn't have the arm strength to hit DeSean in stride?

Anyway, off tangent... ship the WRs off, establish the lines and rebuild.

Won what? A power struggle? With whom? Griffin? No matter how you spin this, today signals a continuation of the losing tradition of the Washington Redskins for the forseeable future. Gruden was letting what play out in the media? His disdain for the QB he was brought in to work with? How is that winning? He won some piddly ass ego battle with a QB he's supposed to be tutoring and helping and causing to grow. Is that supposed to make me feel better? Yay for our coach, he is so small minded he thinks this pyric victory is at all relevant? He has failed here, unequivocally. I don't give a shit about some meaningless ego victory our coach gets. One of the reasons he was hired was to improve Robert. Not only has he NOT done that, he has actually made him worse, worse to the point of ruining him.

Yeah. I'm sure everyone thinks it's Garcon (and, to some extent I do, too), but Cooley apparently hangs out with certain linemen, and all off a sudden, Cooley is deciphering Robert's footwork.

The whole team sounds like a bunch of whiny cry babies...and put Gruden in that category.

Man, winning may fix a lot of things, but I don't think Gruden has enough time here to win. And, if he doesn't get control of the locker room, it'll continue to be a disaster of a team once again.

Gruden doesn't have the time or the ability to win. Joe Gibbs could lead men. After the past 10 days, is anyone willing to put Gruden's leadership in the same sentence as Joe Gibbs'? Hell, is anyone willing to take any characteristic or skill of Gruden's and compare it to Gibbs? Sheeeeeeeeeetttttttttt.....

I came away from the San Fran game thinking I saw some good stuff from Griffin...and I did, about 5-8% of the plays on offense. After watching the game again, it was just more proof he is in over his head. I have no fear of him as a QB...like the rest of the NFL now.

I am flabbergasted by the level of disdain for Gruden. When we break down tape on his offense, even with the terrible line play, there is always someone open...always.

I read a decent article on Gruden about a month ago that said he didn't want control like Shanahan had...he just wants to coach. He doesn't need final say on player personnel, just input about positions of need. The man is not interested in the drama, but is forced into by the NFL demands of access to players and coaches. Dude has an attitude and it could be exactly what we need, a hungry coach who wants to prove himself. A coach who has the ability to win...given the peripheral is extinguished. There was drama before he got here, and now all of a sudden the drama is his fault?

Goal and several others are angry at Gruden...and I guess I understand why...not really. He is not the constant in the sucktitude of this organization for years now. He was supposed to coach up Griffin, but it appears to be a case of putting lipstick on a pig. How much more do we need to see to prove that Robert does not have what it takes to be anything other than an option QB. He has shown nothing to suggest he is...nothing. If you guys want to bring up 2012, go ahead...it was an option scheme he succeeded with. There are various reasons why it won't work on that level anymore, rules changes, his athleticism. But he can't. Gruden doesn't run it and doesn't want to.

So we are left with either sticking with Griffin to wait until he "gets it" or we go with the young coach who has a lot more success under his belt at this level than RG3.

Brian, this is really simple for me. I'll try to keep from swearing too much, but I am very angry today. In my mind, Gruden has failed. Completely. There is no other interpretation in my mind.

Here's why. Griffin has regressed. You can say that he looked bad on Sunday, and I would agree with that. He looked worse than he did at just about any point last year that I can think of off the top of my head. All we heard when Jay was brought in is that he was some sort of QB whisperer/genius/guru. So we all looked at the mediocre level Griffin played at last year and figured if Gruden was half as good as we were being told, Griff would take enormous steps forward. He hasn't.

If Griff's level of play improved even incrementally, I would not blame Gruden nearly as much. The fact is that Griffin has regressed. Under Gruden's tenure and tutelage. Gruden has failed. Plain and simple. And now, after four whole games of giving Robert a try, he berated him publically, broken his spirit and ruined any chance Griffin ever had in a Washington Redskins uniform. And he did that to make himself look better, because HE FAILED. This childish nonsense. I don't see a grown man up there, I see one of my kids trying to convince me that yeah, maybe they screwed up, but not really because clearly it was his sister's fault 'cause she's stupid and can't follow directions, and etc. Not what I expected from a leader of men. Really disappointing.

Personally, I have lost ALL faith in Gruden. I am not at all arguing that Robert is the answer; on the contrary, he has been brutal this year. But Gruden was supposed to make him better. And he failed. Badly. And now he is covering his ass. Like a child.

I see the constant bashing of Griffin and it makes me want to stand up for him. But at the same time I get it. It's a weird feeling inside...for the most part I am just letting most of it slide but some of the venom and rumors being spread is complete horse shit.
