His patience served him well in the past. It's hurting us now as tacklers can come around the edge.

It's not all his fault, but it doesn't work with this blocking and no RG3.

Gruden made comments about the only rushing yards we are getting are "blocked yards."

Translation: He isn't making anyone miss. And he's going down on first contact.

I believe it would be very smart to try something else at least until RG3 returns. If defenses play us differently once that happens, then Morris should look improved.

Until then? Let's try to win some games. 62 yards a game isn't going to cut it.
 
I see nothing wrong with getting Redd a few carries. Definitely wouldn't bench Morris, yet.

But he does not seem like the same guy. And, his fumbling is happening way too much.

It's obvious that the scheme has changed and the blocking blows now after Shanny had these scrubs getting Morris 5+ on about 80% of his carries.

At least the team found the one thing that has worked for years and changed it. It is the Redskins way. Now Morris has to fight off 2-3 defenders in the backfield on every run instead of leading the league in yards before being touched.

Do you remember him getting hit in the backfield on 2/3's of his runs in 2012-2013? Or do you remember that happening to Royster, Hightower, and Helu in 2010-2011?

Yeah his fumbling is definitely a problem though.
 
The most impressive thing about Morris from day one, was his ability to gain yards after contact. And I do remember him often getting first contact at, or behind the line of scrimmage. He turned many potential losses, or no gains, into positive, sometimes huge gains.

Or they're dedicated to changing the O-Line scheme to be effective in both pass pro AND run blocking...

Morris : 3.8
Helu : 5.4

What are the down stats? I'm sure Helu is getting draw plays and 3rd and long where the defense is off defending against the pass...


not being combative, I'm actually curious how that breaks down.
 
This is not going to be popular, but McD5 does have some merit in talking about trades. You try to strike when the iron is hot and you can afford to let a player go.

Plenty of RBs across the league are hurting or are on IR at this time. A few of these top teams out here may need a good RB that answers the injury question for them.

If one of those top teams offers a high draft choice for Morris, you take it.

This is not going go over well in here, but do we want to say the same things over and over? "If only we had traded him last year". "If only we would've acted sooner". If, if, if.
 
There is every reason not to play Griffin here this week. One, the team is on the road against a 6-1 club and figures to struggle in prime time. Two, Griffin has only been back at practice for a week and has a lot of rust to shrug off. Third, McCoy has earned the start and given the staff a good bridge to bringing Griffin back against Minnesota, a game the team has a decent chance of winning.

He's definitely getting paid more than what he is now. and deservedly so.

I know the trade deadline is approaching rapidly.

I'd trade him for a second by Tuesday afternoon.

Holy hell, I don't think I've ever completely agreed with you on anything. I may need a drink LOL

Seriously, he's had minor knee issues going back to last season, and now that he faced a brick wall on dam near every snap, it's taking a toll physically. Now the ankle is also thrown into the mix... Ya, he taped it up, sucked it up, and got back out on the field. I said it earlier this week, let him rest, and give the ball to Redd and Helu. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get a knee scope this off season. Again, put a mobile QB back there, and it loosens up the D, and the running game is healthy again.

RB is not viewed as a position worthy of a second round pick these days. If we could get that, I'd flip him in a heartbeat, but there is no way that happens. Percy Harvin was just traded for a conditional 6th. Morris might get a 4th. Maybe. MAYBE. I think he's worth more than that to us.
 
No wonder athletes don't have any loyalty to teams anymore. He's not even done with his rookie contract and people are ready to dump him Because he's having an off first half of year.

I believe it's a conditional pick that is much more likely to be a second.

And he's no starting RB, and he has questions about his stability.

Richardson brought a first. I wouldn't accept less than a second.
